Overall Meaning

The lyrics to the song Pump Up the Love by 2 Mello are quite straightforward and easy to understand. The song opens with the phrase "Please direct your attention to the..." which is a common introduction to a speaker or performer when they are about to start their act. This is followed by the repeated chant "Murda" which seems to be a reference to the Jamaican slang term "murder" which is often used as a hyperbolic expression of approval or admiration.

The rest of the lyrics are addressed to the listener and are designed to encourage them to "crank up the volume and wake up the neighbors". The song is clearly meant to be an energetic and upbeat anthem that is all about having a good time and getting the party started. The repeated use of the phrase "Ah yeah" and "Murda" are meant to emphasize this message and create a sense of excitement and anticipation.

Overall, the lyrics to Pump Up the Love are simple and straightforward, but they are highly effective in creating a sense of excitement and encouraging the listener to let loose and have some fun.

Just wanna say this is an awesome work...

I wrote some lyrics that could match with this. Keep in mind that I’m a more Rock/Metal fan than a Hip Hop head, so I picture this as something in the style of Red Hot Chili Peppers but with two vocals, one for the verse and the other for the chorus.

(0:33)
Someday you’ll realize this is the world you live in
(0:37)

To discover the things you thought to never see

(0:41)
To learn that the ocean is deeper than it used to be
(0:45)
To feel the sky is high and yet you still can breathe

(Chorus) (0:49)
Who told you this was a funny game?
(0:52)
They never dare play
(0:56)
They did the same, well, dare to switch the way
(1:00)
Because someday, some day
Some day, some day

(Break)

(2:23)
Someday you will tell me how everything changed
(2:30)
If you remember, then learn to forget
(2:34)
Because someday…

(2:38)
Someday you’ll realize this is the world you live
(2:42)

To discover the things you thought to never see

(2:45)
Tell me if the world owns me something
(2:50)
I thought what I got, was for nothing

(Chorus) (2:54)
Who told you this was a dangerous game?
(2:57)
They never dare to play
(3:01)
They did the same, well, dare to switch the way
(3:05)
Because someday, some day
(3:09)
Who told you this was a funny game?
(3:13)
They never dare play
(3:17)
They did the same, well, dare to switch the way
(3:21)
Because someday, some day…

(3:26)
Some day
(3:30)
Someday
(3:35)
Someday
(3:40)
… You’ll be here too

I only learned a few minutes ago that none of Memories Of Tokyo-To's music is from the games, NO. WAY. That just goes to show how well you perfected the feel of Jest Set Radio's music. Kudos man

Back in 2002 I played JSRF and thought/hoped that the music of the future would be like this. Now listening to this it's more like a blast to the past.

I'm so glad I finished listening to my Discover Weekly. The last song was 2 Mello's "Ba-Da-Ba" and now I can't believe how every one of his albums is right up my alley for a different genre I'm into and every song is just so well made. Amazing work.

Man, you went and punched me right in the childhood

Really, 2 Mello, you should have a lot more subscribers. By the way, I always listen to this album on Spotify for that daily dose of sweet JSR vibes.
