The band formed back in 2001 and played locally in Arizona for their first few years. Their first formal release of music was in 2003 with the Fik'shen EP. The release had five tracks; the first three tracks, "Overflow", "Makeshift", and "Sudden Change", would later be reworked and re-recorded later for their first LP, Welcome to the Fall, in 2005. The other two tracks, "Bruised and Break" and "Dissolved", had a different, softer sound than the majority of the rest of their work, and were never reworked. Additionally, the track "Interlude to Addiction", from Welcome to the Fall, is also on the EP, but as an intro to "Makeshift" rather than a separate track by itself.
While the band toured some in 2009 in support of the album, they disbanded amicably in 2010.

I wonder if we
Got enough to start our own army
Sick of all the spindle
I wonder indeed
If Satan's sitter sends are we
One day should we learn to pardon
With no more lost from all this talking
Of god damned misery
I will never be your slave
I can point my finger too
I won't ever say your name
From any other point of view
Sick of being the puppet
I'm held up by strings
With one move to put me where they please
Sick of all the shamble
I wonder what would be
If one day we all should come unleashed
I will never be your slave
I can point my finger too
I won't ever say your name
From any other point of view
I will never be your slave
I can pull the trigger too
I won't ever say your name
From any other point of view
One day should we learn to pardon
Safe inside we'd be
With no more lost from all this talking
Of god damned misery
I will never be your slave
I can point my finger too
I won't ever say your name
From any other point of view
I will never be your slave
I can pull the trigger too
I won't ever say your name
From any other point of view
I won't ever be your slave
The song "Slave" by 32 Leaves is an anthem of defiance against oppression and control. The lyrics express frustration with the societal norms and expectations that hold people back and limit their freedom. The singer is sick and tired of all the bullshit and spindle, and wonders if they have enough people to start their own army. He questions whether they are just pawns in the hands of Satan's sitter, and longs for a time when they can be free from all the misery.
The song also touches on the theme of forgiveness and the power it can bring. The singer believes that one day, if they can learn to pardon, they can be safe and free from all the talking of god-damned misery. However, until then, he will never be anyone's slave, and will never say their name from any other point of view.
The overall message of the song is one of resilience and empowerment. The singer refuses to be a puppet held up by strings, and declares that he can pull the trigger too. He will never be controlled by anyone, and will never let anyone else define him.
