Restrain me with you crown
Cast me to the ground
I'll never make a sound
I won't do it
I can't do it
I can't do it
I won't do it
I can't do it
I'll turn it all to Dust
Take me from myself
And place me in cell
Take me from myself
And fill me with your wealth
I won't do it
I can't do it
I won't do it
I can't do it
I won't do it
I can't do it
I'll turn it all to Dust
Heal me with lust
and cover me in rust
Fuck you and my trust
I'll turn it all to dust
Dust
I see through it
I refuse it
I won't do it
I can't do it
I see through it
I refuse it
I won't do it
I can't do it
I see through it
I refuse it
I won't do it
I can't do it
I see through it
I refuse it
I won't do it
I can't do it
I see through it
I won't do it
I see through it
I won't do it
I see through it
I see through it
The lyrics of "Dust" by 3Teeth paint a picture of a person who is being oppressed and controlled by someone else. The first verse talks about being cast down and restrained by a crown, indicating that the singer is being physically subjugated by an authority figure. But despite this, the singer is resolute in their refusal to comply, repeating the phrase "I won't do it, I can't do it" three times.
In the second verse, the oppression becomes more psychological as the singer is taken from themselves and placed in a cell, symbolizing a loss of freedom and self-identity. The line "And fill me with your wealth" suggests that the oppressor is using material goods to try to entice or bribe the singer into submission.
The bridge switches to a more aggressive tone, with the singer rejecting the oppressor's advances and vowing to "turn it all to dust." The final chorus repeats earlier phrases like "I see through it" and "I won't do it," emphasizing the singer's refusal to submit to their oppressor's will.
Overall, "Dust" is a song about resisting control and oppression, even when it comes from a powerful source. It encourages listeners to assert their own agency and not allow themselves to be taken over by someone else's agenda.
