They began using the Jouvay of Trinidad’'s Carnival as their platform for expression in 1994. Three years later they ventured into the form of Rapso Music [a musical genre defined as the fusion of Rap and Calypso] to ‘make a statement’. “We never intended to be players in the music business, we started off by looking for solutions to some of the problems faced by artists coming from a place where the odds are stacked against you,” says Roger Roberts. Jouvay provided their platform; Rapso became the voice.

Their first song Blue (1997) was an immediate and spontaneous hit, and together with its video redefined the face of Rapso, Their 1999 single Talk yuh Talk, was powerful social commentary which became an anthem for the disadvantaged and dispossessed. “We are on a musical adventure and the Rapsoman’s mission is to educate and entertain. We have the freedom to ‘make a statement’, while ‘riding’ a powerful infectious riddem” says Stanton Kewley.

3canal has since produced 9 Albums and 15 Jouvay Bands. Their latest single Boom Up History [Jan 09] is a call to reconnect to the stories coming from their birthplace {Trinidad] a call to replace contempt of self with Knowledge of Self, "We say Knowledge of Self Is a serious powerful dangerous powerful thing" says Wendell Manwarren.

In 2004 they produced their own musical production -The 3canal Show- a performance extravaganza collaborating with groups of young artistes in a Performance Workshop Lab, combining the disciplines of Theatre, Music and Mas [masquerade]. The now annual 3canal Show has become a fixture of The Trinidad Carnival Season.

3canal describe themselves as Rapso Soldiers on a mission to spread the power of the word, the message of Truth Love and Possibility.

For anybody about to have a root canal: Don't be afraid, it genuinely doesn't hurt. I nearly fell asleep during mine. If you can, take in some noise cancelling earbuds, listen to some music and try to stay relaxed. If you need it, ask for more local anasthetic and they'll usually oblige. Be open with communication before the procedure starts, and know that it'll be over quick and you'll literally feel nothing but the vibration of the tools. The only uncomfortable thing was that my jaw would twitch here and there during drilling, but it was only uncomfortable because I got in my own head about it. There wasn't any pain afterwards for me at all; getting a crown was actually more uncomfortable than the root canal itself.

I've had two root canals. I have a very high pain tolerance and before the root canals, I was in pretty bad pain. I had no pain from the anaesthesia or the root canal procedure at all. God bless modern dentistry.

It is really reassuring to see a dentist getting a root canal. It’s hard sometimes to not feel judged by dentists, who make it seem like it is your own fault you need the treatment.

I have a love-hate relationship with the dentist as I've never had a cavity at 57 so I'm ridiculously thorough about my brushing flossing etc these videos reinforce my determination to not have to go through that but this was well done and enjoyable and looked like it was not traumatic thanks guys

I grew up poor and got taken every so often. New cavity every time even though I brushed, my sister didn’t BUT she wouldn’t hold still for the dentist so.. all of my teeth have huge holes drilled into them. All but one molar and the usual front teeth. It’s really sad- I’m fairly certain that even my baby teeth were fine. It was just a ploy to make as much money as possible off a “good girl.”

I can’t help but think I’d have lost much less tooth structure had I never been dragged in and convinced it was necessary. Just recently I went in about one that popped out and they wanted to make 2 more appointments that didn’t even address my issue. They took 30 X-rays and did painful poking around- I didn’t go back until my hole was 4x the size and excruciating. They WILL milk your insurance and treat you like nothing more than their ATM- she even drilled into the top of a crown I had over 10 years with no issues, now the gums have had their seal broken and I need to find someone to see about that. It’s cosmetic so it WILL be out of pocket unless I start to have serious bone loss as a result. Thanks a lot, Channel Islands Family Dentistry in Oxnard! That “D. Aida” when she DID FINALLY switch to the polisher JUMPEd along with her team of 3 as it spun in her hand. She’s no dentist. These people don’t even show you their face anymore-!!!!

@alwaysyouramandaYou can remineralize your cavities. I was told I needed 2 root canals, 9 fillings and an extraction (I bush and floss every single day religiously). I got my diet in check, read everything I could about oral care and in 4 months all of my cavities have remineralized. I still have a couple of small holes in my teeth that will remain but all the surfaces are remineralized with no pain or sensitivity. Tooth enamel can also be repaired fairly quick with nano-hydroxyapatite and proper mouth PH. If your oral PH is off try using a xylitol rinse throughout the day. Use ozonated oil for infection and gum problems. The key to oral health is PH. If you are in a bad spot (like I was) get your diet in check and watch your oral PH.

I just had two done today. Two teeth, twelve and thirteen, on my upper left side. The worst part was the numbing, but an expert was on hand who took considerable effort to make sure I was comfortable and pain free. Props to him. The dental staff were incredibly careful and I was in and out in an hour. I almost fell asleep at certain points of the procedure. Unless you have a severe infection or “hot tooth,” you will be okay. The worst part of it (for me) was feeling the dental instruments grind at my tooth. Headphones are recommended. Otherwise, if you can don’t let it get worse than it is. Go as soon as you can. The peace of mind I have right now is tremendous. No more pain and nausea. Thank god for modern medicine and the people who study it.

It’s important to start taking ibuprofen as soon as you get out of the dentist and keep taking it as indicated in the bottle for at least 2 days. That way you won’t let the “after-surgery” pain kick in. But it is important that you don’t skip the late night or early morning dose. I forgot to put an alarm for one of my RC’s and it wasn’t pleasant at all.

I literally just got finished with my first root canal about 30 minutes ago. I was terrified going into it. The numbing shots beforehand weren't bad at all, except for the third one that he had to give because i still wasn't numb - he injected me right into the tooth root area on the inside of the gum. After that, it was smooth sailing. No pain at all during the procedure, just pressure. The numbing is wearing off now and there is some pain but nothing like the previous toothache I had. Don't be afraid - get it taken care of!

My root canal didn't hurt, although I felt a bit of sensitivity during the hour long procedure. The only part that was "a little" painful was the anesthesia injection. Even then, they put nubing gel in the area before the injection, so it doesn't even hurt all that much.

Had 5 root canals over 3 weeks, got local anaesthesia and never felt anything other than vibrations and pressure.
Was told not to eat for 2-4 hours when it was done, and I was able to drive home right after.

I just got back from my root canal. I was so flipping scared and on the verge of tears. But I felt no pain what so ever. I made sure to ask my endodontist for extra numbing shots and it was literally a piece of cake. Now on to getting a crown. One more root canal to go as well

Mines not as bad as before the antibiotic injection I had a months ago to make the pain go. It was an abscess and 3 days ago I had the root canal. The procedure was painless if a little sloppy. I felt no pain for the first 2 days but now there is an ache like before the antibiotic injection but not as severe. I’m using pain killers though.

Or do you take it every time you feel pain but you limit yourself to only 5 takes (i.e. if it hurts again for the 6th time in the same day you won't take anymore since you've already taken 5)? On my prescription it just says "4x/day, once per 6 hrs. Take only when needed".

Millionairess Mogul General anesthesia is what puts you to sleep. Local anesthesia is usually a jelly or needle that only numbs a specific area. They’ve also got nitrous oxide that you’ll breathe in through your nose. For some, that calms you down or makes you sleepy, though for me it did neither.

Exactly same as mine. Dud 10 or so years ago and unfortunately xan't find that doctor. Now went to this place and they had moved recently to this new building. There place seems underequipped. They didn't put jaw holders and neither isolated my tooth with a film thing. Their nurse seems like a newbie. They cover my face with this green shit and have a practical learning seminar on my too with little anesthesia. I don't know if I should keep going there after two vidits or change my horses? The doctor is joking and friendly though.

But you will definitely feel bored. Hehehe. Again, do not be afraid, if I would have to rate the pain from 1 to 10 (10 being extremely painful), its definitely between 1 and 1.5. It feels just like a pinch.

I had my first root canal two weeks ago. I was terrified of the procedure - I'd heard it was very painful during and after - so I had put up with a heavily filled tooth that ached intermittently for 16 years because I was too afraid to have that root canal! I needn't have worried. The procedure took 2 hours in the morning and once the anaesthetic wore off, I had mild tooth ache for three hours - I didn't take any painkillers. Even though the pain stopped, the gum around the tooth felt really tender if I ran my tongue over it. I wasn't in any pain in the night and by the morning, everything felt fine. I'm glad I had it done.

Just got with day 1/5 for the root canal treatment of 4 front teeth. I was scared as hell but apart from the numbing shots, I honestly felt no pain throughout the process. But now that anaesthesia is beginning to wear off, my teeth feels a little sensitive. Waiting for the entire process to go on smoothly.

@Alterwrapz The entire process was so smooth. Got root canal on 4 tooth and now have permanent zirconia crowns installed on them. I did not feel any pain as such, after each sitting I had sensitivity on my gums as they were inflamed due to the numbing shots and the cleaning they had to go through every single time. Rinsing with warm salt water and applying a gum gel helped ease the sensitive gums. If your dentist does a good job, your gums will heal in 1-2 days.

I watched this video and seen comments before I got mines done and I was so nervous, but I can say that I did not feel ANYTHING once I got the anesthesia! It was a pinch and a little uncomfortable but I didn’t feel a thing afterwards, not even tugging during the process so do not be scared& this is coming from someone who has a low pain tolerance & is afraid of needles!

I had root canal procedure done today (first part). After the effect of the anesthesia went out I had some pain in the tooth (strangely since the nerves were removed). Two days after the procedure and I feel nothing on this tooth anymore. Actually the dentist warned me that the tooth might hurt 2-3 days after the procedure.
The interesting thing is that I didn't feel any constant pain in this tooth. I only felt few times a smashing pain (exactly when hitting a nerve) when I eat something that's more stiff. But that was all, nothing more.

@Muskan Unfortunately, yes. After the first visit to the doctor (and the nerve removal), on my second visit the dentist accidentally penetrated my maxillary sinus through the root canal. :(
But that wasn't the worst part. He managed somehow to hit a little artery in the sinus (that's almost impossible) and I have unstoppable sinus/nose bleeding for few hours. I went to the emergency later that night and got a nose tamponade. This managed to stop the bleeding (got the tamponade for 72 hours).
I'm going to fix all my teeth before I got any Pulpits again. This was a nightmare.

I got two root canals today on two extremely painful teeth. I'm still really sore, but I have to keep reminding myself I just had my mouth pried open with two teeth drilled into over the course of 2+ hours. Really hoping the pain starts subsiding in the next couple days. ugh.

Hi,i am a student,i had my first ever rct of my life when i was in class 11(11th grade).I just thought it wouldnt hurt me because i never felt pain when my tooth was removed or when injection was applied to my gums.I thought the rct would be painless too but to my horrors,i felt hell on earth,it hurt very much and i had 5 visits to the dentist to complete my rct because my pain was so unbearable.Now another one of my molar has been dug in by cavity and i am mustering up the courage for my next rct.Everyone says it doesnt hurt but it hurt too much for me.Can anyone tell me the reason why.also i didnt use anesthesia on the second visit but i used it on the first visit.My first visit hurt me sooooo much.

My dentist filled the cement even when slight sensitivity was remaining. I told her to remove all the sensitivity first and then do the filling process but she told what she was doing, was right. Now even after filling the tooth, I feel sensitivity.

Watching this video helped me understand that maybe something went wrong with my root canal procedure yesterday 😿 I’m currently experiencing major pain and Tylenol works but I have to take it every 5-6 hours and it’s too sensitive to the point that even my tongue touching it hurts too much makes me wanna cry. I don’t wanna go back!

I recently have had a root canal treatment that caused me more than a month of excruciating, intense pain despite use of prescribed antibiotics, pain killers, in short, controlled substances. Nothing helped! Not even an emergency room visit alleviated my pain. Finally, it was me the patient that decided to have tooth extracted. It was a very traumatic experience that I wish nobody would go through. It was hell! Thank you for sharing the valuable helpful video.

Yes I’ve had a root canal start treatment on my molar tooth, my dentist told me to not stress out!, that’s why it’s more painful the pain goes from 5-8 and it’s extremely painful every 5 hours!, I got told to wait another week now.,he said take pain killers and antibiotics, it’s a joke!, my advise is to have it out and save for a bridge or an implant, as it may not last long with a root canal, if it’s infected and they say they cleaned it out I don’t trust it, it will get worse later, they are drilling around tiny nerves and disturbing the infection.

I had one done on a molar 2 years ago and that procedure was extremely painful. 5 vials of local anesthesia and I still felt every bit of the pulp extraction. I left the dentist in a mild state of shock. I was sweaty too. Then 6 months later had to see an endodontist cause it developed an abscess.

Today ,root canals aren't as painful as they were in the olden days . I've heard that they are no more painful than an extraction ,which I had a couple of months ago and barely needed any form of pain medication.
I am scheduled for a root canal next month.
My dentist is very competent

I’m here after getting my very first root canal today. I couldn’t bring myself to watch the procedure before I got it done but I was curious about what they did lol. The actual procedure was totally painless but my tooth is super sensitive right now and I definitely have some discomfort. But in 2 weeks I get my crown!

I had to do the intrapulpal injection route for the anesthesia to work because my tooth was so inflamed and let me tell you, THAT WAS PAINFUL! But it was so quick because it immediately numbed it. But for the two seconds it took for the anesthesia to finally work, it was the most severe pain of my life.

Tried to get one yesterday. This is pain on a whole different level. Like being stuck by lightening I'd imagine. They tried to anesthetize the thing like 7 times and it was still insufficient apparently. When she used this drill thingy to grind away and make a big enough hole in the tooth it started grinding away at live nerves too. I nearly jumped out the chair and touched the ceiling. The drill thing she was using to drill the tooth was also drilling live un-anesthetized nerves. She then tried to anesthetize the nerves directly by sticking a needle into the nerves. That was even worse I nearly touched the ceiling again. This was pain so great my body started shaking. I've never felt so much pain in my life. Makes an inflamed gall bladder seem tame by comparison. I then told her to just quit and pull the whole tooth out instead. They called in another dentist and he could not get it out. I started talking to Jesus after about an hour of him trying to get it out. I told him i'll be good from now on and do whatever he says. I meant it too. After about 90 minutes of him using various tools and some kind of drill thing it finally came out.

I had one once about 10 years ago, didn’t hurt at all. Weirdest sensation was feeling the vibration of the drill but feeling no pain. Same for getting 2 of my wisdom teeth pulled a couple years later, not painful at all.

I had my treatment 3 days ago and on the day and the day after I felt no pain but after that there’s been a dull throbbing pain that I’ve had to to use pain killers on. The dentist said there could be pain for up to 2 weeks though.

I just had the root canal. The pain was insufferable and I literally jumped two times out of the dentist chair. After treatment I wanted to know how could people suffer this much pain and found that dentist is supposed to give anesthesia. My dentist did not gave me anesthesia. So just a advise to people before treatment ask your dentist for anesthesia.

my experience ! i got root canal in 2020 that means at 11 yo, it took like 4 appointments for me to get it done but i had no pain at all after! the ONLY PART that hurts was when they clean the roots, but it’s not that bad (4/10), and its boring.. my dentist did set up something for me to watch but i couldn’t see the screen so i ended up staring the ceiling. (i have high pain tolerance!) also it might be different for everybody but im sure it’s not that far from mine. <3

Root canals don't hurt but the anesthetic injections do. Nothing is as bad as the ache that brought you to the dentist.

Be aware this is not how everyone is treated this is a top dentist with a top dentist (friend) with all the top tools you get what you pay for and I would love to be able to pay for treatment like this !!

Congratulations on no pain. I was not that lucky, however, with my root canal YESTERDAY. I had breakthrough pain. Insufficient anesthesia, my guess. 10 seconds (my Dentist said) of pure agony that left me screaming. It took 10 seconds for him to administer more anesthesia. And 15 minutes prior to finishing, he asked if I wanted a break. He asked if I wanted more anesthesia (I could feel it wearing off). Of course I said yes . And I powered through. I was shaking uncontrollably but I wanted to get it over with. My initial situation: Premolar right side upper, crack in old filling lead to extensive decay dangerously close to nerve. After excavating the decay, it was too close to the root. I had no inflamed nerve. No pain prior to procedure. Well. Today, minimal pain. Am taking antibiotics. My gums are inflamed. I have a temporary crown that has adhesive all over it. I'm not a happy camper. Prior to procedure, my gums were pink and healthy, as I am meticulous about my oral health.
Dentist did not use a dental dam. Just packing around the tooth. I gagged several times with debris. Geezus. This dentist has great reviews. Now I wait for my permanent crown.

I got my fist root canal ever yesterday and I did not feel anything !!!! Like at all! ( other than some pulling and of course the sound of the drill, but NO pain ) my endodontist was super kind. I asked him to put extra anesthesia and he did. I really wanted to be sure I wouldn’t feel a thing. RC sounds scarier than what it actually is. Don’t be afraid to get it done !

@Jeanetta Wright not at all I felt as if only the tip on the needle was on the gum. The dr. did put this bubble gum paste in a gauze and put it in my mouth to numb the gums prior to the shot. I’m not sure if every dentist is able to do that , but mine did.

I had one in the same tooth 3 days ago. Got an injection in the root because of the pain i was having. It was infected. Not nice but the result is that i have no pain whatsoever anymore. Its worth it!

I'm currently having 2 Root Canals In Guys Dental Hospital in London due to complications.

I'm in lots of pain and discomfort.

First one took roughly a week for pain to go. Second one last Friday even worse pain.

I just had root canals done on tooth 6, 5 & 4 followed by posts and temporarily crowns all in one shot. Piece of cake!! I love my dentist, he’s the man!! Next visit I get my permanent crowns. I still need to do a root canal/ crown on a tooth 32 and a crown only on 7. I got a lots of dental issues but my dentist is so kind and helpful in wanting to save my teeth.

In my experience, which is extensive, many if not most dentists have simply accepted that what they do hurts people and they don’t try to be more gentle, more painless in their approach. Using EFFECTIVE topical anesthetics for an ADEQUATE amount of TIME and then injecting local anesthesia SLOWLY in periodic sessions, then WAITING at least 10-15 minutes before starting to work is the appropriate way to begin any dental procedure.

True. But also if the dentist is very skilled, even the needle after numbing will not hurt too much. I waited too long to get mine done. Had an abscess. Don't know how that happened on a crown put on 3 years ago. Now I'm going to stay away from processed sugars. All of it. Doesn't do any good anyway.

My dentist puts a paste on the spot that numbs the surface and then he gives me the injection. So I don't feel the sting just a bit of pressure. And there's always one shot needed cuz he has some strong anesthesia 😅 and yeah, also waiting like 10 minutes till he starts

For me the most annoying/painful part of is the gingival retraction cord that they use when making an impression for a crown.

This is amazing!!! I only have 4 teeth left which have not been root canaled, because of the medicines I have had to take since I was a child. It doesnt hurt once the freezing is in usually, and I have now problems with the teeth, 20 years later in most cases, breaking off and being lost. But I have always wanted to see how this is done. I had two RC done many years ago the 1st in 1976 and the 2nd in 1989. The 1st one was very successful, lasted some 30 + before the crown cracked off. The 2nd one presented an infection about two years later, treated with an antibiotic. However over the years recurring infections presented themselves, I spoke with my primary dentist. It appeared the RC did not either heal properly or failed, I asked about extracting the tooth however I choose not to since I was advised it would de-stable the remaining teeth upper left side. I no longer had dental insurance to have the RC redone. Finally, came to the point I had the tooth extracted. Same with the 1st tooth as was decaying.

I've had two, one in 1958 and one in 1981. Don't remember either procedure hurting much at all. The second hurt a little (which is why I went in) until they took the nerve out at the first visit. Even then it wasn't very bad.

@JhajiXD The 1958 one is still in place after four or five crowns over the years. The most recent crown is the best, and the first one that looks and feels natural. The 1981 one failed last summer. The entire top of the tooth broke off, crown and all, so I'm looking at an implant. OTOH it lasted forty years, so I shouldn't complain.

I had a root canal like a week ago and for me it was painful when they were drilling my teeth (had to rise my hand and ask for more anesthesia) and on my second appointment was good but when they were cleaning deep inside my teeth i had pain as well and had to raise my hand and my dentist put some more anesthesia. My dentist said i wear out the anesthesia very quick and that’s why i was experiencing some pain. I had to say that it was a little harder to stay relax and calm when i had all those needles going in and out my mouth.

I just had my root canal done yesterday and the procedure was not painful because my dentist properly applied anesthesia but once it wear off and I get on my pain killer, I felt the pain from time to time because the painkiller was not as strong as anesthesia itself. Also I have infection so i'm on anti-biotics right now for a week. once it dries out then i'll have my crown placement.

Just had my 6th root canal done and I felt a little pain. The dentist had to numb me up a couple times more after starting bc I couldn’t feel when he was getting the nerves. That actually happened on my first one as well. On my 3rd one I actually fell asleep. Today was a doozy and I have to go back for more since he said my root was deep and curvy. It’s my furthest bottom molar so I assume that’s why. It hurts to yawn now and I can’t imagine talking much at work tomorrow.

i got my root canal yesterday. to sum it up there was a common but undesirable complication where the metal spike inserted into the tooth snapped, and i ended up staring at the ceiling for 4 hours. the anesthesia began to wear off about 3 hours in and i had to get a second dose. overall not too bad since i was listening to night vale the entire time. i highly recommend taking advil though. i’m taking 400 mg every 4 hours and other than mild discomfort and pain it’s rlly not too bad

I had a root canal a month ago and sometimes it still hurts I told my dentist it was still sometimes hurting and he later noticed I had like 4 roots total and not just 3. Yesterday I was in so much pain and today I went and he found a little of pus building up. I was in so much pain I was crying. Yo, I think it depends on the dentist. I went to a professional endodontist and I didn't feel the slightest pain. Actually, another thing I think is that it depends on the cavity. My cavity was infecting my gums for a year, but if you made it last for more than a year, it can hurt a lot more

It’s true! If the dentist is skilled. Your root canal will feel super relaxing. Knowing there cleaning and fixing your tooth up. With 0 discomfort is the most reassuring thing ever.

I don't know how there can be really no discomfort at all. Not necessarily pain....but having those files scraping the inside of the tooth and your jaw being open for so long, is hardly comfort.

I had the coolest experience at the Endodontist he used some type of vibration gun to deliver the Novocain. I didn’t feel a thing and was numbed up good enough not to feel anything through the process

@AlexM3227 my dentist kind of shakes my lip with his hand while injecting. I think it’s supposed to help with pain and maybe it helps it work more too. I don’t usually feel pain from the needle, but sometimes I’ll feel pressure and like a split second of stinging while the medication goes in. But the shaking really helps with that

Just got this procedure done this morning since my toothache was so bad I couldn't sleep anymore all night.
The procedure shouldnt hurt at all BUT make sure they use enough anasthesia because they didn't for me at the start and they started drilling right through my root which hurt so much I hit the dentis assistent because of the pain. After that the put anasthesia right in my tooth itself and after that I barely felt a thing.

Just got a root canal done in 4 of my teeth and it was completely painless.Those who say Root canals are painful are wrong there is no pain you just feel weird in your teeth for a while but in a day or so everything goes back to normal.

It's not the root canal people are complaining about it's the numbing needle that hurts so bad After all that, it better not hurt or the dentist is racking up the bill giving more and more anesthesia.

@teflo2 actually no the guy who did my root canal before using the needle sprayed some weord spray in my mouth and after that i could not feel the needle so nope.The needle is not painful and at that im just 15

Had mine done yesterday, it did not hurt. Just a little uncomfortable. My tooth infected yet just inflamed do no pain before either but even if it is infected the actual root canal isn’t painful. There is throbbing and pain in gums afterwards but you can take extra strength Tylenol or Motrin and it works.

Have a specialist (endodontist) do your root canal. Never let a general dentist do the work of a specialist.

My doctor started the root canal process but unfortunately it is literally impossible for him to finish because for only one canal, all the nerves aren’t out (I think that’s the problem) and even though my tooth is numb it still hurts like helll. 😢😢 I cannot take the tooth out.
So he put a temporary filling I think to cover the tooth but in this moment I’m typing this, it’s hurting sooo bad. I have to go back Saturday to complete the process. Now I’m scared 😟

my anesthesia “wore off” once they got to the nerve n let me tell you..that was some of the worst pain I’ve ever experienced😂😂but that’s only because it I wasn’t more eager on being completely frozen. As long as you’re frozen I promise it won’t hurt!! I was chilling the whole time up until that point haha

Had my first and hopefully last root canal today. The only pain I felt was the one injection of anesthesia but it was slight. It was over in less than an hour. I get my crown in 2 more days. I was terrified going in, but it honestly wasn’t bad at all.

I had one today it didn’t hurt at all. Just a little discomfort hours later not bad tho. Just be prepared to have mouth open a long time.

Root canals are completely painless with anesthesia I've had three, and I've never experienced any pain whatsoever.
