Serotonin
3 Feet Short Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Can't get this lump out of my, my throat tonight.
Well I tried to swallow it down, but that feeling's just not right.

I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't think, I can't breathe.
I'm dying, dying!
I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't think, I can't breathe.
I'm dying, dying!
No seat belts tonight, gonna cross that double line.
Got no sense of reality, no sense of time.
The only thing I have is a memory of you,
And when I'm not with you I don't know what to do.

Can't get this lump out of my, my throat tonight.
Well, I tried to swallow it down but that feeling's just not right

I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't think, I can't breathe.
I'm dying, dying!
I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't think, I can't breathe.
I'm dying, dying!

I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't think, I can't breathe.
I'm dying, dying!
I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't think, I can't breathe.
I'm dying, dying!
I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't think, I can't breathe.
I'm dying, dying!
I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't think, I can't breathe.
I'm dying, dying!

Dying!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to 3 Feet Short's song Serotonin describe a person who is consumed by their emotions, particularly the feeling of longing for someone who is not with them. The first verse depicts the physical manifestation of this emotion as a lump in the singer's throat that they cannot swallow down. They are consumed by their feelings to such a degree that they cannot eat, sleep, think, or breathe properly. The repetition of "I'm dying, dying!" throughout the song emphasizes the extreme distress that the singer is experiencing.

The second verse describes the singer's reckless behavior as a result of their emotional state. They are driving without a seatbelt, crossing a double line and feeling disconnected from reality and time. The only thing that gives them any sense of connection to anything is their memories of the person they long for. The chorus is repeated four times, reinforcing the singer's sense of desperation.

The song overall has a dark and intense tone, conveying the overwhelming feeling of being consumed by one's emotions. The repetition of phrases emphasizes the cyclical nature of anxiety and depression. The lyrics capture the sense of being trapped in one's own feelings and struggling to find a way out.

Alhamdulillah,
While performing Salah/ Namaj, all these steps are indirectly included as part of the worship
Now I came to know practically how Namaj helps to remove Stress, tension, panic attack etc from our lives.
Though, Namaj is performed only to please Allah Subahanawa ta'ala
Indeed, this is one of the benefits of performing Salah.
Subahan Allah
