Letting Go
3rd Man In Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Who thought it could be this way
Never seemed to think about
When I'd come around and face my fears
Now it's gone and I'm so lost
And I dont know what i'm doing here
Opinions change, it seems so far away
Take the time to think it through
Left alone to find your way, wherever you go
With nothing more to say except goodbye
Can't let go of what's been said
Much to late to give away
Cant you see I'm not listening
Spending most of my time living up to regret
Whats in the past I cant forget
Runaway to find myself, told I'm so wrong

Nothing's right, left unsaid,
Missing the times I never had
Letting go, on my own

It's my decision, I never needed your help

All you've ever done is stand in my way
Now your left all alone, it's what you wanted

The song "Letting Go" by 3rd Man In is a tune about the pain of letting go of someone who was once dear to the heart. The lyrics begin by showing how unexpected it is to experience the current situation, perhaps suggesting a break-up. The problem is when you meet guys like this and deal with them, they change how you view the world and men in general which is really sad. I met a psycho who pretended to be a widow (I am a widow) and I found out he was married. He led me on for months!! Now I don’t even want to talk to other men because my trust in them is completely shattered. My husband and I were married for 20 years and he was amazing! I don’t know how I brought this experience into my life or why?

@evyjay

Wow, that's crazy. Sometimes we just run across great liars/manipulators/sociopaths, I don't think it's necessarily bringing it on yourself. If there's a pattern of choosing terrible people, that's one thing, but try not to internalize all men being terrible, or it's somehow your fault, from a one-off bad experience.

@_ladiosanegra

That's disgusting

You start to empathize too much that you forget to prioritize your own needs.
