1.
NOW I`M TWENTY AND I THINK IT'S TIME TO MAKE A CHANGE
I WANT TO START WITH SOMETHING NEW
I'VE FINISHED MY APPRENTICESHIP EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE O.K.
BUT IN MY EYES EVERYDAY IS THE SAME OLD THING

2.
I GET SEVEN TOUSEND MILES AWAY
HAVE NO IDEA WERE TO STAY ONLY MY BACKPACK AND ME
LYING ON A SUNDY BEACH LOOCKING AT THE SHINY STARS
NOW I REALLY COULD FEEL FREE

REF:I CAN'T LIVE THE WAY THE WAY I DO NOW ANY LONGER
BELEVE THAT'S NOT ALL THAT LIFE CAN GIVE TO ME
AND I THINK THE FAITH IN LIFE MUST BE STRONGERTHAT'S THE REASON, WHY I GO!

3.
BUT CAN I THROW ALL THAT AWAY,
CAN I LEAVE MY HOMEDO I HAVE THE DRIVING FORCE TO JUST LEAVE ON MY OWN
I DON'T DARE TO GO AWAY AND I THINK I NEVER WILL
BREACKING FREE IS JUST A DREAM OF MINE

BRIDGE:
I CAN'T GET ITI CAN'T STAND IT
I DON'T DARE TO GO AWAY

RIGHT OR WRONG
I DON'T KNOWBECAUSE I AM VERY UNCERTAIN

Overall Meaning

"Break Out" by 4-4-1 is a song that explores the desire for change and the fear of breaking free from a monotonous life. The lyrics paint a picture of a young person who feels stuck and wants to start something new. At twenty years old, they believe it's time to make a change and leave behind the repetitive routine they have been living.

In the first paragraph, the songwriter expresses the feeling of being trapped in a cycle of mundane days. Despite having completed their apprenticeship and everything seemingly being okay, they perceive each day as just another repetition of the same old thing. This dissatisfaction with the sameness of their life pushes them to yearn for something different and exciting.

The second paragraph delves into the dreams and aspirations of the singer. They contemplate leaving everything behind, embarking on a journey to a place far away. With only a backpack and themselves, they imagine lying on a Sunday beach, gazing at the shiny stars and finally feeling the freedom they have been longing for. This longing to break away from their current existence and experience true freedom becomes a driving force in their desire for change.

The chorus reveals the singer's dissatisfaction with their current way of life. They declare that they can no longer live the way they currently do and believe that there must be more to life than what they have experienced so far. They crave a stronger faith in life and are compelled to make a change, which is why they decide to go on their journey.

In the third paragraph, doubts and uncertainty creep in. The singer questions whether they can really leave their home and take the risk of going on their own. They admit to being afraid and unsure if they possess the necessary driving force to break free and pursue their dreams. The idea of breaking free remains a dream for them rather than a reality they feel capable of achieving.

The bridge of the song reflects the internal conflict and confusion experienced by the singer. They can't fully understand or tolerate their current situation, but at the same time, they also hesitate to take the leap into the unknown. They are torn between what is right or wrong and admit to feeling very uncertain about their decision.

Overall, "Break Out" by 4-4-1 captures the struggle between the desire for change and the fear of leaving the familiar. It explores the longing for freedom, the questioning of one's current path, and the uncertainty that accompanies the decision to break free from the monotony of everyday life.

4-4-1 was one of the premier bands that played at Calvary Costa Mesa on Saturday nights in the 1980's and 1990's. They drew a tremendous crowd and my got saved because the music was just that good.

I gave the "Mourning Into Dancing" cassette somewhere, but I've never heard this one. Thanx as always. I like the sort of rockabilly vibe this song has.
