Members Chany, Jayoung and J-na debuted on 20 February 2014 in girl group M.O.A, whom they were performing with since December 2013. They left sometime in spring, after the release of the music video for their second song, Run For Your Dream.
Jade Contents Media revealed the first teaser of "Move" on 28 July, bringing in a lot of attention due to the lesbian couple themed MV and a sexually suggestive choreography. After releasing two more provocative teasers, controversies arouse and the company responded with "Our strategy is to show raw sexiness. The teasers are just the tip of the iceberg."
On 1 August 2014, 4L released the full MV for "Move", which reached 1 million views on YouTube four days later,[7] and 2 millions on 7 August. Their official YouTube channel garnered over 6 million views overall in nearly two weeks. "Move" was also the fifth most viewed worldwide Korean MV on YouTube in August, surpassing songs by established artists like Kara, Secret and Sistar. The single Move was released on Korean online websites the 4th of the same month, and on the same week entered Gaon Social Chart at number 4 with 41,479 points.
"Move" was mainly promoted at local and university festivals, starting on 29 August at the Jangsu Festival, where they performed Lee Moon-se's "Flaming Sunset" and their debut song with different outfits and a more sober choreography; their only TV appearance on music shows was on 14 September on SBS's Inkigayo.
4L were the only girl group attending the KNation Music Showcase in Manila on 5 October 2014, where they performed five songs: "Move", Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor", Psy's "Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman", and "Flaming Sunset".
At the end of the year, Yeseul left the group because of the extreme exposure. She redebuted as a solo artist on 2 June 2015 with first single Maybe I Love U (사랑하나봐) under Ziantmusic and Ogan Entertainment. In December she went back to the group to performe "Move" together with J-na and Jayoung under the group name of Instar (인스타) at Wanda Group Investment Conference. A different 7-member girl group would debut under the same name in 2016.
On 16 June 2016, Jayoung announced on her Instagram profile that she and J-na would redebut as a trot duo under the name J.Young. Due to this, 4L's website being taken offline and Chany having not appeared with either member in quite a while, it's assumed that 4L has disbanded.

Sweetie, there's a gif I found of a boy band (I don't listen to many, so idk who it was) that was sexually humping the floor in one of their live performances.
There's a video of taemin of SHINee rubbing up on and groping another band member (I think it was jonghyun) and grinding him on stage.
Boy bands do this a lot and they get away with this shit easily.
That being said the choreography was goofy here. But yeah boy bands do it a lot.
There is.
Also, your grammar needs a check up.
@KIDPLZZ
"It's over sexualised" I honestly dont think so. There was only ONE move that was very sexy. Everyone standards of sexy are different. Your opinion is not fact.
"Its Kporn". Have you even see porn before? Like seriously this is nowhere near porn to be honest.
"Wow this is so disgusting they are making it seem like women are objects" Really? Are you going that route? This is not making them seem like objects. If anything boy bands feeling all over girls makes them look like objects.
"This is not a lesbian concept" The company never said it was a lesbian concept. Everyone made assumptions.
I am pretty sure these ladies wanted to do this concept. I think its a great music video. The rap part was a little cute though. Stop talking about the old days of Kpop. Cause your not a kpop senior. The OLD DAYS were in the 90's. Stop acting like 2009 was full of fully clothed idols. Get a life. Dont make a 300 line long hate message about this group. I support the girls

I have a few thoughts on this song/video. First off, the song is actually pretty good. It reminds me of that experimental tango feel that Gain's "Irreversible" had.
The video however, was a lot to take in. If I could compare it to anything in the K-Pop industry, it reminded me automatically of Stellar's Marionette. The song being a lot better than the video. Even the one set of the dancing outfits were very similar. Likewise, this video used that idea of making everything overtly sexual. Both did the same in likes/dislikes column. Both had very sexual dances.
In comparison, I would argue that Stellar's "Marionette" was just a little less sexual, and I think it's because of all the air-humping and crotch grabbing. Nonetheless, "Marionette" had the awkward butt rub.
From a western standpoint, I love the show of a same-sex couple. However, it was clearly put it in more for the sexual aspect, rather than the support aspect.
Don't get me wrong, I love the sexy concept, but sometimes overly sexual just screams "trying too hard." Many people have already said this, but I'll say it again, the industry is hungry for money and sexy sells more than aegyo. The girls unfortunetly are stuck doing what they're told, but they also signed up for it. So the backlash this gets the girls will take. However, regardless of whether you love it or hate it, it's getting views because people will be spreading this for being so scandalous. I wish 4L good luck!
@jaypeemoredo9409
Seduction is a talent. Seriously, why the haters? After all, they're just dancing. Idealism and down-to-grave standards won't do anyone any good. Then goes insecurity.
Sexiness and cuteness are merely preferences of people. Some like it hot, some like it not.
And to the fact that this ain't porn, but merely just entertainment, use your minds, not your egos and standards and whatever negative criticisms you give these girls.
Ya wouldn't like it if you were the ones who're bashed.
And it's just business. Nothing personal, ya dig? ^_-
@breadstal
To be honest, this wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. Based off the teasers, I was expecting it to be a lot less tame. The only real "explicit" dance moves are when they're on the floor at the :31 mark up to :39. And maybe some of the solo shots; even then they're not as bad, I mean come on, "oppa" has done the same thing and barely anyone gives them grief about it. And it is rated 19+ for a reason, don't say they didn't warn you.
At around the 2:53 mark up to about 3:01 I was reminded of Girl's Day 'Something'. These ladies are definitely going to have to change their choreography to perform on any music show; Girl's Day had to change some of their choreography due to censorship, which was really ridiculous because it wasn't even bad.
The rap was really weak in my opinion; it seemed out of place and the voice of the girl who did it, her voice didn't match the vibe of the song for that moment. I really enjoyed the hook and the chorus; it's a nice listen. I really do wish I had the lyrics to see if they matched the video scenes. I liked the idea of the same-sex couple, especially for it to be with women because it's not something normally shown. I do think it was for the shock factor, but I guess we'll really see once the lyrics are translated for us who can't understand Korean.
I think it seems way more sexualized than it really is due to their outfits, or rather lack of outfits. The lack of covering skyrocketed the sexualized aspect more than it should have been. The dance at the chorus isn't that bad and I bet if they danced it while being more covered up, many people wouldn't give them as much grief about it.
The double standard is so real and it's really sad to see that many people can't give the whole "sexy concept with females" a chance; they automatically down vote the video and bash it to no end. If you watch it and it's not your cup of tea, then simply click out of the video. I can't wait to see if these ladies can bring the same vibe on a music show and also if their vocals are up to par live.
@nareem5199
So the 4L M/V is finally out. It wasn't that much about 'Homosexuality', so calm down. I get you guys being homophobic but that isn't an excuse to bash the whole group. I strongly believe all of you know that k-pop is about a foreign country that is NOT Arabic, Muslim and definitely not Algerian. Mindsets differ. Concepts differ. Acceptance differs. Maturity of people differs. It's all about how you see it, and whether you are civilized, mature and open-minded enough to see the whole 'bigger' picture.
It's like you guys have never EVER seen anything that provocative and sexual. Mind you, K-pop is all about that. YG artists hint to it with lyrics. SM artists hint to it. JYP artists hint to it. CUBE artists hint to it. Every company hints to it, whether it suits us or not. It's simple, that's the show business and that's how it works.
Now going back to the whole 'revealing clothing' thingy. Don't fool yourself thinking this is new. Revealing cloths have always been there. Check out recent M/Vs revolving around k-pop. It has never been about cuteness only (at least, it isn't anymore). Sexy works. Sexy sells albums. Sexy attracts. It's 2014, people. Women aren't what they were. Women grew up. I grew up to be independante. I am not saying imma go around wearing revealing clothes. No, I can't do that. Why? It's not because it's 'too much'. It's because of my religion and culture and state of mind. But I'm independent in all the extents that god had given to me. I'm a woman, and I have rights. My rights and THEIR rights are two different stories. Now they have a different religion. They have a different culture. Their state of minds aren't ours. They don't think like we do. It's comprehensive, for god's sake.
So unless "one of them", your opinion ain't really objective. Sorry.
K-pop have never been about music, don't you think? You like Exo's 'Wolf' because of it's meaningful lyrics, deep melody that gives you chills down your spin? OH PLEASE. You like them cause they're hot and their faces are fine looking. Who wouldn't? It's all about look. And 4L's visuals are GOOD. They look super fine--no. They are the BOMB DOT COM and their boldness is something I haven't seen for SO LONG in the industry. So what? What are you bashing exactly?
K-pop has always been influenced by the western wave. So don't get me wrong but it's not ALL about cuteness--half of your oppars aren't cute, but sexy. Taecyeon has a beasty, wild and sexy persona in his groups' M/Vs. That ain't never gonna equal cute, final.
Their clothes? It's their concept, their style, their fashion--it ain't revealing because honestly even Algerian (Arab countries even) wear bikinis, so yeah. Argument ain't solid.
Their dance? No, don't even start thinking about that. Groping, touching, butt-shaking and hips rolling have always been a part of the K-pop vibe. Your oppars do it ALL THE TIME, EMCEES do it ALL THE TIME. Sometimes it's to joke, but they still DID IT. Even other girls group to be honest, it's just that they never do it all at once. And yup, it matches their concept, style, fashion--so yup, jelly-like arguments, hello~~!
Oh, oh. Is it their music? The song was hella good. I like the vibe. Ain't that bad and their voices aren't terrible--I have seen worse. I like the rapping. I like the "good night kiss" part, it sounds good.
For further similar matters, let me give you a piece of information. This whole M/V was rated mature. 19+ or differently said, mature contents that targets mature adults. K-pop isn't for kids only. There is a group, I don't remember the name exactly, something like Naked Shi dae or Naked girls or Naked ladies. Do you know what they do? K-pop for adults. They do groping-actions on LIVE SHOWS. They even go on topless.
This was just a different kind of M/Vs that brought something new. It's based on the 'forbidden' idea of homosexuality, it brought up sexiness and spiciness. It's new, and most of the people that bashed/hated it are religious/Arabs/homosexual/teenagers-going-through-puberty, so I'm not really surprised.
But don't tell me the MUSIC or the group are shit just because they aren't SNSD or KARA or MISS A.
They are good, and the music was just alright.
