Catastrophe
5¢ Deposit Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

nothing matters
when this world has got you down
livin the common life
of a shrew under the ground
realized that it was me
look in the mirror doesn't matter anyway
forget your name and go be free
na na na na
change your own reality yeah yeah
when I've got nothin to say
looks like nothin goes my way
when I thought it was
na na na na na it's not O.K.
don't remember where I've been
cant you see the shape I'm in
when I thought that it was
na na na na na it's not O.K.
beat and tired
from the street and to the ground
look at the common lives
scattered pieces on a town

don't you know your supposed to be
look in the mirror doesn't matter anyway

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Catastrophe" by 5¢ Deposit seem to speak to a feeling of hopelessness and disillusionment with the world, as well as a desire to escape it. The lines "nothing matters when this world has got you down, livin the common life of a shrew under the ground" symbolize a sense of being trapped and overwhelmed by the mundanity of daily life. The theme of feeling helpless is further emphasized in lines such as "when I've got nothin to say, looks like nothin goes my way" and "beat and tired from the street and to the ground."

However, there is also a sense of rebellion and defiance in the lyrics, with the exhortation to "change your own reality" and "forget your name and go be free." The repetition of "na na na na" in the chorus could be read in this light, as a sort of rallying cry to break free of the constraints of society and traditional expectations. Ultimately, the song seems to suggest that the only way to escape the feelings of sadness and exhaustion that come with living in the world is to stop caring so much and embrace the freedom of not caring about anything at all.

Hey guys, do you know if this scheme is split with a certain amount available for each state and/or local government area?

Mortgage Broker Australia - Hunter Galloway

Thanks Clare, that's a great question. Unfortunately its a first come, first served lottery. Each bank also gets a certain allocation, however, not limited or allocated to certain states/local areas.

Applied for this last year in July 2020 and managed to get a spot within a matter of a few weeks. Ultimately decided to give up my spot as I decided I wasn’t ready to buy/ready to move out of home and didn’t have as many options (single 23 yo then in Sydney). Going to apply for the scheme again this year as I’m now ready to move out and have also got a higher salary. Hopefully all goes well ✌️ thanks for the helpful video!
