Jackson was born and raised in South Jamaica, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. His mother Sabrina, a drug dealer, died in a fire when he was 8. Since his father had already abandoned the family, young Curtis was sent to live with his grandparents. Growing up during the crack epidemic of the 80s and 90s, Jackson dealt drugs when he wasn't "killing time" at school or boxing at a local gym. His grandparents assumed he was at after-school programs when he was out selling crack. In tenth grade, Jackson was caught with guns and drug money passing through the metal detectors at Andrew Jackson High School in Queens. In 1994, Jackson was arrested again for selling vials of cocaine to an undercover officer, and three weeks later he was arrested yet-again after police found heroin, crack cocaine, and a starter pistol in his home. Jackson was sentenced to 3 to 9 years in prison, but opted to join a 6 month boot camp program and get his GED. Around this time, Jackson began going by "50 Cent," inspired by deceased Brooklyn stick-up man Kelvin "50 Cent" Martin.
After leaving drug dealing to pursue a rap career, he released his debut album Guess Who's Back Again in 2002. He was discovered by Eminem and Dr. Dre and then signed to Interscope Records. He has since released Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003), The Massacre (2006), Curtis (2007) and Before I Self Destruct (2009).
50 Cent has engaged in feuds with other rappers including Jay-Z, Ja Rule, The Game, Cam'ron, Fat Joe, and Rick Ross. He has also pursued an acting career, appearing in the semi-autobiographical film Get Rich or Die Tryin' in 2005, the Iraq War film Home of the Brave in 2006, and Righteous Kill in 2008. 50 Cent is one of the richest hip-hop performers, having a net worth estimated at US $440 million in 2008.
Before 50 Cent ever inked a major deal, he built up a substantial fan base in New York through underground mixtapes. 50 Cent met up with Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC and was signed to his label to write all of Jayβs music. After heβd left JMJ, he signed to Columbia Records in 1996. On this label, he released Power of the Dollar, and the singles How to Rob and Ghetto Qua Ran. Columbia Records released him from the label after being shot on May 24th, 2000.
Around this time, Eminem had heard one of 50 Centβs demo tapes and expressed a huge interest in him on MTV, as did Dr. Dre. Shortly after this, 50 Cent officially signed to Interscope Records. He was the first rapper to sign to the joint label owned by Dr. Dre and Eminem. The first song he released on this record was entitled Wanksta and was featured on the 8 Mile soundtrack.
In its first week of release, his debut βGet Rich Or Die Tryinββ sold 872,000 units - easily reaching Gold status. Within the second week it went Platinum (1 mil) and on April 12th, 2004 the RIAA certified it six times Platinum.
In 2005 he followed the success of his album Get Rich or Die Tryinβ with a new release - The Massacre (originally called St. Valentines Day Massacre until the release date was pushed back). The first single released off this, Disco Inferno, was a huge hit - he followed this hit up by the release of Candy Shop and then again with Just a Lil Bit.
In 2003 Interscope Records allowed 50 Cent to have his own label - G-Unit Records. He first signed Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck as the established members of G-Unit Records. In 2004, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent had signed The Game under a joint venture.

Yeeh...
I'm'a Soldier, I Done Told Ya, Don't Make Me Fuck You Up
Leave You Head Bust, I'm'a Head Busta, Man I Don't Give A Fuck
I'm'a Soldier, I Done Told Ya, Don't Make Me Fuck You Up
Leave You Head Bust, I'm'a Head Busta, Man I Don't Give A Fuck
[Young Buck:]
You Kill Nigga's Without Permission, Nigga's Gon' Kill You
We Bang The Rags Too, Red And Blue, That Shit ain't Only On The Westside Fool
Surrounded By Section 8 Houses And The Projects
A Place Where You Make The Wrong Turn, You're Gettin Robbed At
We All Targets Standin Out On The Street Corner
That's Why You See The Lil' Kids With The Heat On 'Em
Police Pull Up, Hop Out When They Can't Catch Us
They Never Even Get A Change To Say "Park Your Weapons"
Liquor Stores Never Close, The Whole Hood High
Niggas Know When Its "Roll", The Whole Hood Ride
We On That Bishop And Jude Shit
I'll Put This 4-5 In Your Mouth Like A Toothpick (You Bitch)
The South Ain't Safe No Mo', So Get A Gun
And Pray To God That you Make It To See 21
[50 Cent:]
You Gon' Make Me Crawl Through Your Backyard, And Cut Off Your Lightswitch
Kick In Your Back Door, And Take All That White Shit
Niggas Know What To Do When I'm Around
Go Put Ya' Pack Up, And Pick Up Ya' 4 Pound, It's Bout To Go Down
Buck Back On That Bullshit, He Even Got His Baby Momma Walkin With A Full Clip
Fucked A Couple R&B Hoes, But Now It's Back To The Hoodrats
They Lick A Nigga Dick And Know Where That Good At
Money Don't Make A Nigga Change
It's Just The Niggas That Ain't Neva' Had Nuthin Start Doin Strange Thangs
They Say I Must Like Beef, 'cause 50 Got 50 Enemies
But If They Fight Him, They Gotta Fight Me
Come Ride Through These 3rd Row's,
And Let Me Show Ya How I Puttin' In Work Goals
The 4-4 Bulldog Small Enought To Fit In A Nigga Boot
So It's Wherever, Whenever, Whatever You Wanna Do (Nigga)

I'm'a Soldier
The lyrics of "I'm A Soldier" by 50 Cent featuring G-Unit speak about the harsh realities of life in the streets and the need to be strong, tough, and fight to survive. 50 Cent starts the song by declaring that he is a soldier and anyone who messes with him will face dire consequences. He talks about being a head busta and not giving a f**k about anyone. Young Buck comes in next and speaks about the small town he comes from, where organized crime is the rule, and anyone who kills without permission will also be killed. He talks about the violence, poverty, and danger of living in such a place, where even children have to carry guns for protection.
The chorus comes back in, with 50 Cent repeating that he's a soldier and will bust anyone who messes with him. Young Buck then talks about how he will crawl through someone's backyard and cut off their light switch, kick in their back door, and take all their "white shit." He talks about getting ready for a fight and brags about his gun, a 4-4 bulldog small enough to fit in his boot. The message here is clear: violence is a part of life, and one has to be prepared to fight to survive.
Overall, "I'm A Soldier" is a gritty and raw song that talks about the realities of life in the streets, where violence, crime, and poverty are rampant. It highlights the need to be tough, strong, and ready to fight at all times to survive.

I am from a town where organized crime is rampant, and unapproved killings result in deadly retaliation. We represent both red and blue gang colors, which are not exclusive to the West Coast. The area is surrounded by low-income housing and projects, where the wrong turn could lead to an assault or robbery. Because we are vulnerable, children carry weapons to stay safe. The police do not have control, and liquor stores remain open while everyone in the neighborhood gets high. Gang activity is prominent, and I will use my weapon as a tool to intimidate my enemies. The South is no longer a safe place to live, and it is essential to have a gun and pray to see 21 years old.

If you provoke me, I will use covert tactics to prevent you from stopping me, going as far as disabling your light switch or kicking in your back door to steal your drugs. People know what to do when I'm near since it is about to get dangerous. My friend has his baby mama armed and ready to protect him. I used to have sexual relations with R&B stars, but now I am back to dating hoodrats who know how to satisfy me. Money does not change a person, but it can lead to strange behavior from those who have never had it before. People say I enjoy conflict because 50 Cent has many enemies, but if they mess with him, they mess with me. I am prepared to demonstrate my skills in the 3rd row, and my weapon is small enough to conceal in my boot, so I'm always ready for whatever happens.
I'm'a Soldier, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left
I'm'a Soldier, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left
I'm'a Soldier
I am a soldier who will continue following orders without hesitation, stepping in perfect rhythm with my fellow soldiers.
