The band's unique blend of electronic, industrial, metal, and synthpop has brought it some success and a loyal fanbase in the DC/Baltimore/Northern Virginia region as well as in other limited areas in both the United States and Canada; but has also hampered its ability to enter the musical mainstream.

On April 21, 2009, 51 Peg announced via their MySpace page that they had disbanded as a group after having been together for ten years (since 1999).
