Facts about the Tribes of Papua New Guinea featured in this video.
None had ever come into contact with the US military.
And if they did, they'd rather run away and hide or try their best to camouflage with the forest if they notice that their bush weapons would be no match against the guns and bombs.
The only contact some of these tribes had with "military" from the outside world would be during WW1 & WW2. And those would be the German, British, Australian and Japanese military who were fighting in Papua New Guinea.

Goroka is not a tribe but is actually the Capital of Eastern Highlands Province. The Goroka Tribe in this video is actually an annual event called "The Goroka Show" which showcases all the tribes within Eastern Highlands Province including participating Tribes from all over the country of Papua New Guinea who come together to showcase their traditional dances and costumes.

I don't think one of the most well equipped and technologically advanced military forces in the world who possess not only modern firearms, but a wide array of ranged weapons of mass destruction is afraid of a group of people who are honestly just trying to live their lives while celebrating their culture.

This doesn’t mean that the US is always successful. Most recent example: Afghanistan.

As a Kiwi, I have one issue: Maori (pronounced Maw-re, with a rolling "r".) never had any major contact with the US. Initially with the Dutch (under Abel Tasman) and later the British (under James Cook)

Saloga Sua

exactly!! I was going to say the same thing, and as a samoan i know its really offensive when they pronounce it wrong.

@PerfectAlibi not even. We were nicknamed that because the kiwi is a bird native to Aotearoa(New Zealand)

The fallacy is that these tribes were not fighting against the United States Army. They fought against unorganized bands of colonizers and invaders from Britain, Spain, Brazil, Portugal, France, Italy and other territories that sought to take their land and freedom away from them. They fought hard and desperately, and many succeeded in carving out a respectable piece of this earth for their tribes. All this was way before the U.S. became the United States and developed an army. By the time the U.S. Army came around, they were put on reservations that freely traded with them. Still to this day.

I am from Papua New Guinea and can confirm that the tribes from my country mentioned in this video have never encountered the US army.

NB. In actual fact the three most feared tribes in Papua New Guinea are the Huli, Engan and Goilala tribes and not the ones mentioned in the video.
