The Model
8-Bit Operators Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Imma keep smoking till I'm out tonight
Cold role model I don't know whats right I
Lost it on the corner
Face up on a poster
Boutta call the coast guard
I don't really know her
Seems to be a loner
Shorty got a cold heart
Heart
That's just what i see when I'm into you
Cold role model you just skipping school ya mm
Boutta go the wrong way
Don't make me have to chase you
Caught up in a long day takes a lot to save you
Lemonade and grey goose
Fill up my day ou mm
Looking for something you aint never seen
How do you know what to keep and leave
Shoulda really kept it but leave it be
Just leave it be now see?
Leave it be
Leave it be now see
Imma keep rolling till I'm out of sight
Cold role model I don't know whats right I
Maybe got too closer
Wish I didn't know her
Wish you told me don't start
I know I'm a smoker
Never seeming sober
That's what you seen so far
Know that I'm cold
Know that I'm with it admit it this touch all on your soul
No we not old
We just beginning this living so lets get on the road

I'm not no role
Model its hard to swallow but that's how it goes
Oh so I'm told
Bottle will hit the bottom then
Head to the floor

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to 8-Bit Operators's song "The Model" depict a narrator who is indulging in smoking and engaging in reckless behavior. The opening lines convey a sense of being detached and lost, as the singer continues to smoke until they are out. The reference to a "cold role model" suggests that the singer is someone who lacks guidance and is unsure of what is right. They feel like they have lost control and are potentially in trouble, as they mention being on a poster and considering calling the coast guard.

Despite this, the singer is intrigued by someone who they describe as having a cold heart. They are drawn to this person but also recognize that there may be negative consequences. The mention of skipping school and going the wrong way implies a sense of rebellion and potential danger. The singer feels the need to chase and save this person, even though it takes a toll on them. The references to lemonade and grey goose suggest a desire to escape reality and find solace in substances.

As the song progresses, the singer acknowledges their own flaws and addictive tendencies. They reflect on the decisions they have made and wish they had not gotten involved with this person. The repeated line "leave it be" represents a desire to let go and move on from this situation. However, they continue to indulge in their vices and express a sense of resignation that they are on a downward spiral. The closing lines allude to hitting rock bottom, as the bottle hits the floor.

@TheAmoajulieta

There just a minor change
in Antenna lyrics:
I'm the antenna catching vibration
You're the transmitter, give information

Wir richten Antennen ins Firmament
Empfangen die Töne die niemand kennt

I'm the transmitter, I give information
You're the antenna, catching vibration

Es strahlen die Sender Bild, Ton und Wort
Elektromagnetisch an jeden Ort

I'm the antenna, catching vibration
You're the transmitter, give information

Radio Sender und Hörer sind wir
Spielen im Äther das Wellenklavier

I'm the antenna catching vibration
You're the transmitter, give information

I'm the transmitter, I give information
You're the antenna, catching vibration

I'm the antenna catching vibration
You're the transmitter, give information

I'm the transmitter, I give information
You're the antenna, catching vibration
catching vibration
catching vibration
catching vibration
catching vibration

@DJBillyQ

I first heard this album when I was in high school and hadn't even ever listened to Kraftwerk before; I was just looking for good 8-bit music. It wasn't for a couple years that I realized these were all covers of Kraftwerk songs because I heard somebody playing one of KW's original songs that I was like "hey, that song sounds just like that song from that 8-bit album!" 🤦‍♂😅. If the people who made this album ever see this comment, please know that this album was such fire that I would listen to it on repeat as an antisocial high schooler and it helped me get into a groove when nothing else could (and particularly, the cover of Radioactive). Thanks for the memories. :)

@petromaxskavholm9779

Role Model's Showroom Dummies is beyond brilliant.

@dorronfranco9964

Great cover of the music of KRAFTWERK

@BruceMardle

I liked it up to the last piece. (Too 'rappish' for me.) My girlfriend is saying she's sure she heard the melody to "heaven knows I'm miserable now" in 1 of the pieces!

@harislade6676

Brilliant. Thanks.
