88 Fingers Louie (sometimes referred to simply as 88 or 88 Fingers) were a punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois.
Career
88 Fingers Louie formed in spring 1993, with the intention of playing sloppy, fun punk music for themselves. They took their name from a character from an episode of The Flintstones, who sold Fred a stolen piano. In the later part of 1993, 88 self-released their first EP and appeared on a couple of local compilations before attracting the interest of renowned punk label Fat Wreck Chords in 1994 (appearing on the 1994 Fat Wreck compilation Fat Music For Fat People.
1994 and onwards
Their early EPs, Go Away and Wanted, renderred them a typical "Fat Wreck Chords band" by critics, due to their fast, melodic sound, but suitable for skateboarding music. Their next record, the 10" Totin' 40s and Fucking Shit Up, was released by Rocco Records in 1994, until their first full-length release came under Hopeless Records, entitled Behind Bars. By 1996, a tour across North America and Europe ensued following the release of their next EP, Chicago Vs. Amsterdam.
However, several months into the tour, tour stress and band turmoil began, with 88 subsequently splitting up in July 1996, and abruptly ending the tour, despite a bunch of US tour dates left over. With the absence of 88, Fat Wreck released The Teacher Gets It EP and The Dom Years 10" in 1997, whilst Hopeless Records released 88's vinyl-only material and rarities, on the 88 compilation 88 Fingers Up Your Ass.
After a year and half of being on hold, Dan Wlekinski (guitarist), Denis Buckley (vocals) and Joe Principe (bassist) revived 88 Fingers Louie in 1998, adding drummer John Carroll to the rhythm section. Their "comeback" album, Back on the Streets, was released in the same year.

Help
88Fingers Louie Lyrics

Help, not just anybody,
Help, you know I need someone,
Help.
When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in anyway.
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured,
Doors.
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round.
Help me get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me?
And now my life has changed in oh so many ways,
My independence seems to vanish in the haze.
But every now and then I feel so insecure,
I know that I just need you like I've never done
Before.
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round.
Help me get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me?
When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in anyway.
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured,
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the
Doors.
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round.
Help me get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me?
Help me,
Help me,
Ooo.
The song "Help" by 88Fingers Louie is a cover of the classic song by The Beatles. The lyrics express a plea for help from someone who is feeling down and insecure. The song reflects on the changing nature of life and the fact that sometimes, we need to rely on others to get back on our feet.
The first verse describes how the singer used to be self-assured and independent, never needing anyone's help. However, as they have grown older, they have become less sure of themselves and more in need of support. The chorus then pleads for someone to help them out of their current state.
The second verse further explores the changing nature of life and the feelings of insecurity that can creep in. The singer acknowledges that they need help more than ever before and that they are opening up to the idea of relying on others.
Overall, the song conveys a universal message of the importance of asking for help when we need it. It reminds us that no matter how self-sufficient we may be, we all have moments where we need someone else to lean on.

At a show in Vancouver back in the day, I was chatting with the singer of No Use For a Name. He told me they were playing a show with 88 Fingers the next day in Seattle. 88 Fingers broke up a little while before and I'd never seen them yet, so me and my friends were so stoked. We saw No Use with 88 fingers the next day in Seattle, where they played songs off this album, and we were in awe. The break down bass line in State was so dope. Man, the 90's were the shit.

Saw them at rebellion about 5 years ago, they were class. Best half hour thrash punk set I've seen
