Video analysis:
In the beginning we see niki sending off a bunch of of momentos to her ex, when he receives them he's reminded of their past.
In the first half of the video niki is reminiscing the past, and is trying to cope with the loneliness that surrounds a breakup. Cue the flashbacks to the past when the couple did stuff together, and then fast forwards to when niki is doing the same stuff on her own. She's trying to move on but finding it hard to do so. On the other hand, the guy seems to be trying to move on quickly, hanging out and meeting with other girls.
In the second half of the video, niki is running with her dog and meets someone new. They exchange numbers. From then on, you see that she's happier, and spends time with friends (old/new im not sure) and even performing/singing again. She's finally moving past the hurt and on to fresh beginnings. On the other hand, the guy stops meeting other girls and insteads spends his time alone and drinks while everyone around him seems to be a couple or in love.
At the end of the video, niki is looking at a christmas tree, reminiscent to the christmas tree scene of niki and the guy. She seems to be thinking about the past again. Then, she walks away. This resembles her moving on for good.
Niki's approach to the breakup was one of solitude and feeling the emptiness/loneliness, and when she's ready for love again, she finds it during a normal everyday activity. Meanwhile, the guy was trying to push away his feelings and quickly move on from one girl to another, but soon realises it was hopeless because he still misses her.
I don't know why I did this random chunk of analysing, but Niki's videos always evoke a sense of 'wanting to analyse' especially because she's really good at word play and that sort of stuff evident in her lyrics. Anyways, happy holidays to anyone reading this. I appreciate you x
