Ball and G, that's the answer
Living legends, many are called but few are chosen

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of 8 Ball/MJG's song Album Intro reference Shakespeare's famous quote from Hamlet, "To be or not to be, that is the question." They then declare that the answer to their own question is themselves, the duo of Ball and G. They assert that they are living legends, acknowledging that many may claim that title but few truly deserve it.

The following lines mention their names and describe them as "legends of the south." Their monikers, 8 Ball and MJG, are also referenced along with another nickname, Fat Boy. This line also includes the word "pimpin'" which may be a reference to their early career as members of the Memphis rap collective, Suave House Records, which often focused on "pimp rap."

The final line, "Bad Boy nigga, show them whachu got," may be a nod to their label at the time, Bad Boy South, and a call to action to show their skills and prove their status as legends.
