Hope
90LB.Wuss Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Gurgling, gasping for air.
I need the breath of life.
The breath of life.
The breath of life.
I am weak from the fight and I can still hear them celebrating victory.
Wiping the blood from my face.
The pain creeps in taking over my thoughts.
My spirit lays broken, shattered, shrouded by you.
Your icy pale skin in the cemetery plot I dug for you.
I push you in and I like it.
Hating the darkness which becomes my flesh.
Inside this shell you try to hide.
Your still churning. mind and spirit burning.
Torture love never fails. exception in your case.
Failure comes quite naturally or so it seems.
Fading in and out from black to white, to black to white again.
Watching the blood running down my cheek. and my spirit lays broken.

And I feel so shattered and so tired.
I dug a hold six feet deep for you and you want it.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of 90LB. Wuss's song "Hope" delve into themes of struggle, pain, and perseverance. The opening verse speaks to a desperate need for the "breath of life" as the singer fights against what appears to be overwhelming odds. The sense of physical and emotional trauma is palpable as the singer envisions themselves bloodied and broken, with their spirit shattered and obscured by another's presence. However, there is a sense of dark satisfaction as the singer pushes that presence into a grave they have dug, suggesting a desire for control and power even in the midst of struggle.

The second verse continues to explore the themes of pain and struggle, but with a hint of resilience. The imagery of "fading in and out from black to white" suggests a wavering sense of hope or perspective, but the presence of both colors indicates a potential for renewal or balance. Even with the singer's own blood running down their cheek, there is a sense that they are still battling and enduring.

My older brother had this cd. I think I was 12 when it came out. It changed my life. Between this and Roadside Monument and Blenderhead I don’t think I’d be the person I am today. Easily the three best bands Tooth and Nail ever produced. Still have a soft spot for Joe Christmas though too. And Damien Jurado and Pedro the Lion

@cyboman5687

And Frodus

Thanks for sharing! Love hearing stories like these. Absolutely love Roadside Monument, Pedro the Lion and Frodus myself. Can't remember exactly how I got into that stuff but I've always loved the Tooth and Nail bands, so much good music there.
