The lads based themselves in Glasgow and it was there that their journey to the top of charts would begin! They embarked on a massive tour of Schools & under 18 clubs in Scotland and the rest of the UK to build up their growing army of teenage followers and were fast becoming crowd favourites on road shows during the Summer of 1995.
In April 1996 after being unable to secure a major record deal Lee, Spike & Jimmy along with their management team ‘Backlash’ decided to form their own record label called ‘Ginga Records’. ‘Night To Remember’ became the bands first independent single release and debuted at Number 38 in the UK charts. Their second single ‘Love Sensation’ which was on the sound track to Casper the movie followed in July ‘96’ and did even better entering at Number 21 and also became the bands only US hit record.
The success of 911’s two independent single releases created such a buzz in the UK pop industry that on 27th September 1996 music giants Virgin Records signed Lee, Spike & Jimmy on a four album deal! 911’s first release under Virgin brought them their first Top Ten Hit with the brilliant ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’ which smashed into the charts at Number 10!
911’s first album ‘The Journey’ was a huge success in the UK, Europe & Asia in 1996 and released six singles from the record. The lads sold out 35 theatre dates in a staggering 30 minutes for their first headline tour and had finally made their mark in the world of pop!
The next two albums ‘Movin On’ & ‘There It Is’ followed in quick succession giving the lads more Top 5 hits including ‘More Than A Woman’, ‘All I Want Is You’ & ‘Private Number’. 911 headlined their first arena tour and also the legendary Smash Hits Tour at the end of 1998 which would also see them go through a change of management team. In January 1999 Lee, Spike & Jimmy had one of their biggest selling hits and celebrated their first UK Number One!
September 1999 would see 911 release their 13th and final single ‘Wonderland’ along with their Greatest Hits & ‘A Little Bit More’ album. They also completed their sell out arena tour in October of that year. In January 2000 the lads toured Asia to sell out audiences and became one of the first Western pop acts to perform sell out shows in China since Wham back in the 80’s.
In February 2000 Lee, Spike & Jimmy decided to go their separate ways and announced their split live on the Chris Moyles Show on Radio One.
2013 saw Lee, Jimmy & Spike reunite to appear on ITV2's The Big Reunion.

Open your eyes
Here in the dead of the night
Lying here with you by my side
Don't know if this is wrong or it's right
Wishing this was just another day
Baby, I can feel it's too late
Looking back through the years
Time has dried all our tears
But all good things must end, oh, just listen
Baby, don't cry, I can see we've lost the feeling
Won't you open your eyes and try to find your smile
We've known each other too long to let it all slip away
But when all's said and done, we've said our last goodbye
Baby, don't cry
Baby, we've been living a lie
And even though it hurts deep inside
I know there can be no, no, no compromise
'Cause too many chances have passed
And if you want a love that can last
Never try to push things too fast
And even though I've no regrets
I still recall the night we met
We said we'd never end, so, baby, listen
Baby, don't cry, I can see we've lost the feeling
Won't you open your eyes and try to find your smile
We've known each other too long to let it all slip away
But when all's said and done, we've said our last goodbye
Baby, don't cry
All the memories we had, I wouldn't change a thing
And with the lights down low, I'm dreaming of what could have been
Even though we've tried so many times before
I'll take one look around before I close the door
With this one last kiss, I know deep down inside
The beginning of the end, the ending of our time
Maybe we could try, but, no, it's just too late
Just another cruel twist of fate
Looking back through the years, time has dried all our tears
But all good things must end, oh, just listen
The song "Our Last Goodbye" by 911 is about the end of a romantic relationship. The lyrics speak of being together with the person you love, but realizing that the relationship has lost its spark and it's time to say goodbye. The song starts with "Baby, don't cry, open your eyes", which is a comforting message to someone who is hurting. The singer acknowledges that despite having spent so much time together, the relationship has lost its feeling, and it's too late to salvage it.
The lyrics in the second verse suggest that the relationship has been built on a lie and despite trying to make it work, the singer can't find any compromise. The line "too many chances have passed" suggests that the relationship has gone through several stages, but it's time to let go. The lyrics are bittersweet as the singer reflects on the memories they shared, but ultimately realizes that all good things must come to an end. The song ends on a note of finality, with the singer acknowledging that it's the beginning of the end and that they have said their last goodbye.

Baby, don't cry
Don't cry, my love
Open your eyes
Look at me
Here in the dead of the night
It's late at night
Lying here with you by my side
I'm lying here next to you
Don't know if this is wrong or it's right
I'm not sure if what we're doing is right
Wishing this was just another day
I wish today was just like any other day
Baby, I can feel it's too late
I feel like it's too late for us
Just another cruel twist of fate
It's just another unfortunate event
Looking back through the years
Reflecting on our past
Time has dried all our tears
Time has healed our pain
But all good things must end, oh, just listen
But all good things eventually come to an end
Baby, we've been living a lie
Our relationship has been a lie
And even though it hurts deep inside
Although it hurts emotionally
I know there can be no, no, no compromise

Although I have no regrets
I still recall the night we met
I still remember the night we first met
All the memories we had, I wouldn't change a thing

I'm imagining what could have happened if things were different
Even though we've tried so many times before
Even though we have tried multiple times before
I'll take one look around before I close the door
I'll take one last look before I leave
With this one last kiss, I know deep down inside
With our final kiss, I know in my heart
The beginning of the end, the ending of our time
This is the start of the end of our relationship
Maybe we could try, but, no, it's just too late
Maybe we could try, but it's too late to save our relationship
