The lyrics to "Panta rhei" by 9GOATS BLACK OUT are filled with vivid imagery and symbolism, exploring themes of transience, impermanence, and the unbreakable bonds that connect us. The opening lines, "Tagai ni kotonaru mono doushi / Musubareta hakanaki kirameki," suggest the interconnectedness of all things and the fleeting nature of existence, while also hinting at the possibility of something beautiful and enduring arising from these connections.
As the song continues, the lyrics paint a picture of a world on the brink of collapse, filled with anxiety and uncertainty ("Kowareta sekai furiharaenai fuan no umi / Shuuchaku wo sadameru no wa kimi"). Against this backdrop, the singer implores us to hold fast to the things that truly matter: love, connection, and a sense of purpose.
The chorus contains the most striking, repeated refrain of the song: "Koe wo tsutaete yubi wo tsunaide furuenaide kodomotachi yo / Tada aishiau tada motomeau tada ikite shinu / Sore dake ja nai ka." In English, this means something like, "Tell them with your voice, hold their hand and don't let go, children / Just love each other, just seek each other, just live and die / Isn't that enough?" Here, the singer is exhorting us to cherish each precious moment of our lives, to be fully present with one another and to celebrate the beauty that can be found in even the most fleeting and fragile of relationships.
