Discommunication
9mm Parabellum Bullet Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In "Discommunication," 9mm Parabellum Bullet portrays the frustration and disillusionment that often accompany modern-day communication. The song opens with the imagery of cutting out a scene and capturing it within the confines of the palm - a metaphor for how we often filter and compartmentalize our interactions in the digital age. The following lines discuss the struggle to find genuine connections in a world full of superficial gestures and meaningless chitchat. The singer longs for an authentic love that isn't based on lies or falsehoods. The chorus warns against talking too much and instead, listening to our hearts to avoid misunderstandings.
In the second verse, the band highlights the danger of relying solely on appearances and judging by what we see on the surface. The act of making shadows in our palms represents how we create false personas, masks, and self-images that we show to the world while hiding our true selves. The lyrics advise against action and encourage us to read between the lines or interpret nonverbal communication to avoid inaccuracies or misconceptions. Towards the end, the song expresses the desire for a significant change to fix the discommunication problem. This solution involves someone coming to rescue the singer and bringing them out of the despair of never understanding or being understood by others.
