Sleepwalk
9mm Parabellum Bullet Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of "Sleepwalk" by 9mm Parabellum Bullet describe a protagonist who is wandering aimlessly through a town during winter, with no clear purpose or destination. The changing seasons are described with a sense of detachment, as the singer struggles with feelings of confusion and disorientation. As he walks, he reflects on his desires and dreams, but is plagued by a sense that he is missing something vital.
The lyrics underscore the theme of disillusionment and loss in modern life. The singer's struggle to find meaning and purpose in a world that seems to be slipping away from him is emphasized through the use of repetitive phrases and a sense of hopelessness that pervades the song. The symbolism of the cold, dry streets and the dark night further emphasize the feeling of emptiness and loneliness.
The song's title, "Sleepwalk," is a metaphor for the singer's state of mind: he is walking through life in a daze, seemingly unconscious of the world around him. The chorus repeats the phrase "samedatemo" ("even if I wake up"), emphasizing the sense of being trapped in a nightmare from which there is no escape.
