9mm Parabellum Bullet Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of 9mm Parabellum Bullet's "The World in 2-3" express a sense of anxiety about the potential end of the world, which has been scientifically predicted but has not yet materialized. The singer questions why, despite this prediction, the signs of the world's demise are not yet evident. They suggest that it is important to examine life closely and challenge assumptions, rejecting the idea that only those who live pure and innocent lives can enter heaven. Instead, they propose that it is a dangerous lie to believe that the world will continue forever and that we must pay attention to the world around us and our own existence in it.
The song seems to be a commentary on humanity's tendency to ignore warnings or signs of impending disaster until it is too late. The lyrics acknowledge the scientific consensus that the world is finite, but also question why we continue to live as though it will never end. The singer encourages listeners to challenge their beliefs and examine their own lives in light of this knowledge, even if it is uncomfortable to do so. The repeating mantra of "breathing" and "taking notice" suggests that we must be present in the world and mindful of our own existence if we want to truly understand our place in it.
