Trigger
9mm Parabellum Bullet Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of "Trigger" by 9mm Parabellum Bullet talk about the desire to regain freedom that has been taken away. The singer seems to be part of a group of warriors, going to the battlefield with the stegosaurus - the band's mascot - by their side. They mention how they haven't seen true freedom since they arrived, and how they had their smiles taken away from them. The lyrics then shift to a more personal tone, with the singer referencing a photo in their pocket of someone they used to laugh with. The imagery becomes more violent, with the mention of "hot blood" and "cold creatures" before they declare that they will pull the trigger for their loved one, asking who took away their smile. The final line "奪うのは誰だ" ("Who took it away?") is repeated, emphasizing the theme of loss throughout the song.
The song seems to touch on themes of fighting against oppression and the loss of personal freedoms. The use of stegosaurus as a symbol of the band perhaps illustrates the duality of strength and vulnerability, as well as the idea of an ancient civilization fighting to survive in a modern world. The personal touch in the middle of the song adds a layer of emotion, with the violent imagery of "pulling the trigger" bringing a sense of desperation to the song.
