Tonight
As if it's all unreal
All right
My love, won't you come back to
Our love, you know I'll react to
The blood that moves the body
Now covers the ground The blood that moves the body
The blood that moves the body
There's nowhere to go
Tonight
Lend some warmth to our cold
And lonely lives
Red stains on 'Eyes Of A Blue Dog'
My pains fade as the interiors fog
The blood that moves the body
Now colors the ground
The blood that moves the body
The blood that moves the body
Not long ago
It hurts us so
A tremble through our lives
The love love and care
The way we were
Lost it's way at nights
It's the way we feel
Tonight
Lend some warmth to our cold
And lonely lives
My love, won't you come back to Our love, you know I'll react to
The blood that moved our bodies
Now covers the ground
Now covers the ground
The blood that moves the body
The blood that moves the body
"The Blood That Moves The Body" by A-Ha is a reflective and emotional song that delves into the themes of longing, loss, and the complexities of love. The lyrics speak about the overwhelming feeling of unreality and longing that the singer is experiencing, as if their whole world has been turned upside down. The repeated lines "The blood that moves the body" suggest a sense of vitality and life force that is now stained and covering the ground, possibly symbolizing the pain and turmoil the singer is going through.
The imagery of red stains on 'Eyes Of A Blue Dog' and pains fading as the interiors fog creates a sense of confusion and disorientation in the singer's mind. The mention of lost love and care, as well as the way their relationship has lost its way at nights, conveys a deep sense of sorrow and regret for what has been lost or damaged. The blood that once moved their bodies is now coloring the ground, emphasizing the profound impact of their emotional turmoil on their physical being.
The lyrics also touch upon the idea of trying to find warmth and solace in the midst of cold and lonely lives, suggesting a desperate need for connection and comfort. The plea for the beloved to come back and the acknowledgment that the singer will react to their love hints at a desire for reconciliation and healing. The repetition of the lines "The blood that moves the body" underscores the physical and emotional toll of the singer's experiences, as well as the persistence of their pain and longing.
Overall, "The Blood That Moves The Body" is a poignant exploration of love, loss, and the enduring effects of emotional turmoil. The evocative imagery and emotive language used in the lyrics create a vivid picture of a protagonist grappling with feelings of disorientation, heartache, and the struggle to find peace and connection amidst pain and confusion.

Paul Waaktaar-Savoy is a genius of a writer. The reference to "Eyes of a Blue Dog" and in the video the flash of a motorcycle driver who looks like Gabriel Garcia Marquez... the song means so much more, if you read that story. I wonder if Paul (and Mags) ever got as much credit as they deserve for their lyrics and songwriting.
@Kppot
perfectly spotted that driver, oh yes! never paid attention before!

As a Norwegian, living in America, I have to say every time I hear “Take on Me” on the radio (it’s at least once a day on certain radio stations), I am surprised “Take On Me” was the one that became a hit here. Not a bad song at all, awesome video that didn’t hurt them. However, I dare say that there are 4-5 other tracks on “Hunting High and Low” that are far better. As I’ve aged, I have “rediscovered” the band. There’s so much more to them than “Take On Me”, and this track is one that I truly enjoy listening to, as I continue my a~ha “journey”.
