x2

Where are you? Where are you?
Granny, where have you gone to?
Where are you?
Don't hide from me.

x4

I'm here, I'm here
I'm lying in my bed
Come here, come here
Don't be scared

Granny
What strange eyes you have
So big teeth you got
So I can eat you up
(repeat x2)

Where are you? Where are you?
Granny, where have you gone to?
Where are you?
Don't hide from me

Don't be scared, rawr

Where are you? Where are you?
Granny, where have you gone to?
Where are you?
Don't hide from me
(repeat x2) (Don't be scared!)

I'm here, I'm here
I'm lying in my bed
Come here, come here
*
(repeat x2)

Rawr!

Don't be scared!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to A-Moe's song "Little Red Riding Hood" are a reinterpretation of the classic fairy tale of the same name, with a focus on the fearful sensations of the singer and the predatory nature of the wolf, who is impersonating Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother. The song opens with Little Red Riding Hood asking where her grandmother is, followed by the refrain "Don't hide from me" and a repetition of the question "Where are you?" This creates a sense of unease and frustration as Little Red Riding Hood cannot find her loved one.

The second verse is sung from the perspective of the grandmother, who assures Little Red Riding Hood that she is lying in her bed and invites her to come closer. However, the lyrics begin to reveal the true identity of the singer when the grandmother is described as having "strange eyes" and "big teeth," traits that belong to the wolf. The repetition of the line "So I can eat you up" is a warning of the danger Little Red Riding Hood is in and adds a chilling tone to the song.

The song ends with a reprise of the first verse followed by the sound of a roar from the wolf. The repetition of the phrase "Don't be scared" feels more like a plea than an assurance as the lyrics suggest that the wolf will not hesitate to attack. The song's dark interpretation of the classic fairy tale adds a new layer of complexity to the story and highlights the fears we face when encountering danger.

13+ years later, I once again come across this song. I was 5 when this came out. I am now 19 and listening to a completely different genre of music. Back then, I loved pop and this stuff for example. I'm laughing at how catchy they made a song based on a fairytale that has been around for who knows how long! And they made it work.

Oh man, I haven't heard this in years. I've been thinking that A Moe was just a one-hit wonder, but this one isn't bad. But I only like a few of the parts in the song, for some reason.
