Ashes
A.C.O.D. Lyrics

So what I had a rough day, that's life
And if y'all don't like it than motherfuck y'all
I be bombing on ya embassy, embalming all my enemies
Always hit the mark like a shot into a Kennedy
Drop shit as hot as a Molotov toss
I'm abdominal rot, y'all common cold coughs
Sorta like bad service how he drop a cold call
Then I off your whole squad like vamanos boss
What popping though? Y'all would get your dominos dropped
It's the prodigal horror show, rotten, those thoughts
Paint psychedelics on pages with rage of rebellions
Count days but I age like a relic
Rappin circles round you like a ribbon
Competition got me adding up subtractions like division, fuck y'all
You can tell these snakes to slither off my dick
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi vernacular, hit em where they hiss
So what I had a rough day? That's life
And if y'all don't like it than motherfuck y'all
Ashes to ashes, dust to stonewall
You can line em up and they all gunna fall
Oh you had a rough day? That's life
And if y'all can't handle it go fuck yourself
Stonewall to ashes, dust to Hell
Let the cards fall as they may
In you're closed gate villa bumping Ghostface Killa
Go getta, get the tape out and roll play with ya
I'm the omen. Homie. Opponent? Show me.
I'ma cross em out but the post ain't holy
They falling from grace and they ain't gunna feel it
You don't watch yourself and fate's gunna mirror
I'm foul as the play in your staged disappearance
So take it from me or get taken of spirit
Phantasmagoria, my span's meteoric
Plan for the flames and only end up fanning the forest
Cannons toward me? Make your stanzas euphoric
Y'all just putting seeds in the hand of the florist
I'm a damn allegorist, get the close up picture
Turn indigenous people into tourists. Visitor
Slow fuck kids already know what's wicked
Be victims, forgive it, or just don't fuck with it
So what I had a rough day? That's life
And if y'all don't like it than motherfuck y'all
Ashes to ashes, dust to stonewall
You can line em up and they all gunna fall
Oh you had a rough day? That's life
And if y'all can't handle it go fuck yourself
Stonewall to ashes, dust to Hell
Let the cards fall as they may
Y'all might be wondering, where his head at
When I "motherfuck" this then I "motherfuck" that
The fact is I've had it, I'm past the theatrics
You pussies can stimulate your average cat dick
Feral in the country fittin collared leashes
Where you either run with wolves or you walk with sheep
Talk is cheap, Rot apparently spit therapy
And y'all ain't prepared to see my doctors fee
Incomprehensible, I'm speaking in confidence
Not confident, I'm confidential, feet on ottoman
Here to make friends? Nah I'm here to make accomplices
And sit around with ghosts as we cheers to our accomplishments
Guess that's why I lose friends,
Leave you tied up like a loose end, comprende
Check the pen name, I ain't claim innocence
You ain't get it so I'll say it again, fuck y'all
So what I had a rough day? That's life
And if y'all don't like it than motherfuck y'all
Ashes to ashes, dust to stonewall
You can line em up and they all gunna fall
Oh you had a rough day? That's life
And if y'all can't handle it go fuck yourself

Stonewall to ashes, dust to Hell
Let the cards fall as they may

Overall Meaning

In the song "Ashes" by A.C.O.D., the opening lyrics talk about a cash machine that is blue and green, where the artist can exchange a small fee for some of their desired items. They then go on to question the prevalence of listening to poets and art in general, as it seems like nobody cares about it. The machine itself seems to beg for luck, making the listener question the purpose of the transaction.

The chorus of the song speaks to the idea that all of the artist's lies are actually just wishful thinking but they know they can't change the past. They desire a better life, full of new experiences and a fresh start. They feel like a hole without a key if they break their tongue, and question whether tomorrow will ever come.

Towards the end of the song, the artist talks about their anxiety, where every time they hear a doorbell ring they get down on their hands and knees and shake like a toothache. They continue to reiterate the idea that their lies are just wishes and that they would die to come back new. The final lines of the song talk about the ashes of American flags and fallen leaves filling up shopping bags.
