Something
A.D. Skinner Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You hate it
'Cause even love you thought you found
Has faded
And lately it all seems temporary to you
How could you know
That you'e going down a road
Is it ever enough
When you're looking for a love
That's endless, endless
Tired of living for yourself
It's empty
But how could you be someone else
You can't be
And maybe life is more than chasing the wind
Love calls out in the darkness
Always seeking the heart of
The wanderers, the wanderers like you, like me
In A.D. Skinner's song "Something," the lyrics describe a feeling of disillusionment with love and the pursuit of finding a lasting, meaningful relationship. The singer acknowledges that the love they thought they had found has now faded, and that all they seem to encounter is temporary. They are going down a road that seems endless, always searching for a never-ending love that will finally satisfy them. But they question if it's ever enough, if they can truly find what they're searching for.
The lyrics also touch on the idea of self-discovery and being true to oneself. The singer is tired of living for themselves, as it feels empty and unfulfilling. However, they also acknowledge that they can't be someone else and must embrace who they are. They suggest that life may be more than simply going after fleeting desires and chasing the wind.
The chorus brings in the idea of love calling out in the darkness, seeking the hearts of wanderers like the singer. It's unclear whether the singer believes they will find the lasting love they're looking for, but they continue to search and hope that it's possible.
Overall, the song is a contemplative and introspective exploration of love, self-discovery, and the human experience.

I love how David Duchovny writes Scully. She's funny, happy and flirty in his scripts. This scene is so great. Thanks for posting.
Supreme Overlorde
David Duchovny created some of the cutest M&S moments. I noticed that in both episodes he wrote, he ended them off with Mulder and Scully just getting to enjoy each other's company and joke around, which is something kind of rare for them.

My favorite part was when Mulder called Skully and he was like "Hey Scully guess what? Skinman just called me from a bathtub." Skinner goes "Mulder it's still me." and without blinking an eye Mulder just says 'Oh, hold on.' And neither one of them seems to think anything awkward of it.

Did anyone notice that Scully got to laugh like Gillian and Mulder laughed like David in this scene. They don't really do this in any other part of the series. I think they do this on purpose in this David written and directed episode.

I think they always laugh like "them" the problem is many times we don't get to hear it. There really weren't a lot of "laughing" parts. Giggling, jesting, smiling yes but few laughing parts in the scripts. Either way they both have great laughs and the looks and smiles never get old when they are alone together. Pure Gold. Miss this show.

Yeaaaah! When I watched this scene the first through what I had was the same. She sounds more like Gillian here
