prologue
A.R. Rahman Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Have you ever seen lightning strike?
It’s like God sending its' wrath from heaven in such a beautiful but violent way
It’s something that the mind can barely perceive
It takes lightning 350 meters per second to strike
It’s almost as fast as the speed of sound
Well that’s a metaphor for how this mixtape made me feel
I’m giving you my pain, pleasure, my love, hate and every emotion in between
Tryna to create something beautifully violent and something infinite
I hope you find whatever emotion you need on these tape

Overall Meaning

In the opening lines of Prologue, A.R. Rahman draws a comparison between the splendor and ferocity of lightning and God's anger. The lyrics speak to the power and majesty of a force that humans cannot fully comprehend. This metaphor is used to describe the artist's creative process in making this mixtape, as he aims to channel his own emotions into something that is both beautiful and intense.

Rahman's lyrics then return to the subject of lightning strike with some scientific details, including the speed at which it travels. This illustrates the contrast between the raw force of nature and the limits of human understanding. The final lines of the verse create a sense of intimacy between the artist and his listener, as he hopes that the emotions he has poured into this project can resonate with others and bring them comfort or inspiration.

Overall, Prologue is a powerful opening track that sets the tone for the emotional range and creative ambition of the mixtape to come.

Wow. Back in 2003-4 when I fully discovered ARRs music first thing which I did is this. Cutting all the prelude and interludes of ARRs Tamil songs to enjoy it's sheer musicality. It was obvious that later on I have started enjoying the full song in its totality. One such track I do remember is "Mujhe Pe Toofan Uthae" from Tehzeeb, if your cut prelude interlude and ending music and combines it you will get a definite instrumental track. I have called that peice "The Soul Of Tehzeeb"...:)))
