You look at me
Think I've been shot by Cupid
Am I stupid? (I've been shot by Cupid)
In this coffee shop
Three chairs apart
I've been fantasising
In my mind boy you told me you'll love me forever
So hypnotising
Your soft lips
Just wanna taste it
Won't you come on over
So we can start this
This love affair
Pull up a chair
I'll give you all you need
Can you say the right things and I'll give you forever
One look is all it takes
To connect with your soulmate
Felt like our stars aligned
The moment we locked eyes
A look is all it takes
To connect with your soulmate
Felt like our stars aligned
The moment we locked eyes
A look
That's all it takes
To connect
With your soulmate
Felt like our stars aligned
The moment we locked eyes
A look is all it takes
To connect with your soulmate
The moment we locked eyes
I felt our stars align
In "Coffee," A.W.o.L. paints a vivid picture of a chance encounter with someone who has caught their eye in a coffee shop. The first verse describes the mutual attraction between the two: A.W.o.L. has been struck by Cupid and can't stop thinking about the person in question. The chorus drives home the intensity of this attraction - all it took was a look for A.W.o.L. to feel as though their "stars aligned" and they had found their soulmate. The second verse is more direct in its longing, as A.W.o.L. urges the other person to come over so they can start a "love affair" - a phrase that suggests a romantic intensity that goes beyond a simple crush. At the same time, A.W.o.L.'s desires are tinged with uncertainty: "can you say the right things and I'll give you forever" is a vulnerable statement that hints at a fear of rejection or disappointment.

Got this on a Ska compilation CD after seeing that Warren Miller movie. Was the best track on the disc and have never stopped listening.

Did this song with my high school buddies back in '97 for a lip-sync competition. We didn't win anything, but we had so much fun! ^_^
