AFI Lyrics

Attraction, was once so strong now can't be found
Affection, one gift I wish you would return
Frustration, as I accede
I do not deserve your frigidness
Such callousness, yet I persist, what's wrong with me?
I told you, you can't be replaced
Spit in my face, as I submit, so I quit
Submission, my back hurts from bowing down
Attraction, was once so strong now can't be found
Affection, one gift I wish you would return
Frustration, as I accede
I do not deserve your frigidness
Such callousness, yet I persist, what's wrong with me?
I told you, you can't be replaced
You showed me I'm disposable
Spit in my face, as I submit, so I quit
The lyrics to "10-Three Seconds Notice" by AFI convey the pain of unrequited love and the struggle of holding onto a relationship that is no longer fulfilling. The singer is in a state of submission, physically and emotionally, as they bow down to their partner's desires and needs. However, they also express frustration and a sense of worthlessness as they feel like they are disposable to their partner, who has become cold and distant. Despite feeling mistreated, the singer admits to persisting in their efforts to keep the relationship alive, questioning what is wrong with them for continuing to subject themselves to this emotional pain.
The repetition of the lines "Submission, my back hurts from bowing down, Attraction, was once so strong now can't be found, Affection, one gift I wish you would return, Frustration, as I accede" emphasizes the singer's submission and the gradual erosion of their emotions towards their partner. The contrast between the singer's professed devotion and the partner's coldness highlights the power dynamic and the singer's difficult choice of relinquishing their attachment, as shown in the final line "Spit in my face, as I submit, so I quit."
Overall, the song's lyrics convey a sense of vulnerability and desperation, reflecting the difficulty of leaving a toxic relationship and the pain of being rejected by someone you love.
