Unlike many other supergroups, AJICO possessed an organic unity that made it much more than the sum of its parts, although UA's distinct voice was easily the band's most identifiable feature. The band released its first album, 深緑 (Fukamidori : Deep Green), in February 2001 and it immediately won rave reviews, although some critics were less than complimentary about Asai's rather nasal vocal style. AJICO gave UA and Asai an opportunity to be a little more laid-back and experimental, which was especially good for Asai, who seemed to need a break from being BJC's front man. The members of AJICO showed that the band wasn't just a one-off project by touring and releasing an excellent live album, AJICO SHOW, in July 2001. Since then the AJICO project seems to have been put on the back burner permanently.

Lake
AJICO Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I Love the Lake and you
I Love the Lake and you
I said good-bye
My friend has gone
I don't wanna go home
I love the Lake and you
How deep deep green here is
I need green like you
I Love the Lake and you
Yellow butterfly
And red red dragonfly
I miss white swan
I need the Lake and you
Don't ask me "Are you true?"
The lyrics of AJICO's song "Lake" seem to be an expression of love for the natural surroundings and a significant other. The repeated phrase "I love the Lake and you" suggests that the lake and the person being addressed in the lyrics hold equal importance and love in the poet's life. The line "My friend has gone, I don't wanna go home" could be interpreted as a moment of sadness or longing for something that is now gone or has passed. However, the following lines, such as "I hold the color like you, how deep deep green here is," express a deep appreciation for the beauty of the lake and its surroundings. This appreciation is further exemplified by the poet's desire for "green" like the lake.
The inclusion of descriptions of "Yellow butterfly, red red dragonfly," and "white swan" seems to add to the enchantment in the poet's love and appreciation for nature. It serves as a reminder that regardless of the person being addressed, the lake holds much importance to the poet. The last line "Don't ask me 'Are you true?'" could suggest a sense of frustration regarding the genuineness of emotions being expressed.
