I bought 2 stihl ts420 saws for $150 for both. Both complete, one started and ran but had a broken muffler bolt in cylinder head so no muffler and the other wouldn't run due to piston, cylinder scoring. I ordered the piston/ cylinder rebuild kits for both units for $120 each and rebuilt them and now I have 2 running t420s with basically new engines and I have $390 total in both of them.

Stihl 10 times out of 10, I have been using them for over 20 years and the number one thing they have over all other saws I've used is the ability to rotate counter clockwise when cutting. Stihl has the nice handle bar all the way around so you can cut at any angle.

Gotta figure too - the dewalt saw is probably cutting faster cause the blade is smaller. It has a smaller contact area through the cut. Just got the m18 version for small cuts into sidewalk at work, and I’m impressed with how fast it is. I dont have other saws to compare it to, but in general that little saw is very impressive.

I am very satisfied with the Makita 4 strokes used one for about over than two years sawing residential foundations at various depths also gone through rebar like a pice of cake she will start right up at my second pull you just need to know your engine also she will star the same even when very cold 20 below cero because if you don’t know when your engine needs to be choked you will ended up choking it that will happen to any engine no matter what brand is. I ran chain saw for about 10 years cutting timber and all together I have 20 + years of experience with different engines.😊

I have a 700 Stihl and MOSTLY love it. The problem with it is if you put it on the stihl cart, the cart frame is directly in front of the fitting to hook the water hose up to. I expect better from Stihl. If you are putting a water hookup on a tool at the very least design it so water can be connected to it!

Sharing this to my boss (we do concrete) for the blades. We have a Husqvarna, and it works like a champ....if you are experienced with such equipment. Yes, Husqvarna does run a little loose but a firm and steady grip once you start cutting sraightens up nicely.

TS500 is the largest saw with 2 top mounted handles. The difference between the TS700 and TS800 is the 800 has a 16" blade over the 14" of the 700.

Husky k970. Great for stone work. Has crazy power and doesn't bind up when you push through your stone. Like to use the k760 for block and brick. Little lighter so you have a bit more control for compound cuts.

we just use an electric Husqvarna at work. It is maybe a 12 inch blade. Does the job for the amount we use it for. The DeWALT cordless would probably be a better option for our crew since we don't use concrete saws for large jobs. Mostly cutting the occasional joints in driveway or garage floors.

You may not like the Hilti saws but in the rental game they are 100% the best because of the warranty and service that Hilti provides. A customer will bring one back to me with a hole melted through the piston and we send it to Hilti and they have it back to us in 3 days running like brand new.

We had a Husky k750 which I loved,the mechanic didn't seat the air filter correctly..and we killed it.
Now we have a Stihl,and it's a bit more bulky.

Hey man, I just wanted to throw my opinion out here on two saws that I have lots of experience with. The Makita and the Hilti. I work in the equipment rental industry and we carry both of these brands in our store. Time and Time again the 4 stroke mikita takes the Cake all around all day long!

makita's crankcase material is too soft stretches around crank bearings. Husqvarnas shown here break arms off are prone too leaking under manifold due to stupid mount.. Stihl brakes Left hand side top crankcase mount. For best overall the stihl is the more reliable and also cheaper repair option as far as breakages. Hire industry mechanic 3 years small engines mech 27

I have personally used the Husqvarna and it does torque in the hand pretty bad but for an experienced operator it’s a good saw

The best thing about battery is your power is there instantly. There's a guy out there who made a drag car powered by military helicopter batterys. He ended up crashing it because of the power being to instant and he couldn't get a good enough grip and lost control. Just think where power tools will be in I would even say in the near future.

be interested to read the comments of those with some extended use with the various brands.
For instance, 'though it looks like it may have been redesigned, we used all STIHLs and while they performed well and stood up to the idiots' factor well, the blade covers would develop fatigue cracks over time, to the point where a spares stock of re-welded covers was held for swapping out and welding. IIRC, under the cover there was a small plug that could be removed in VERY cold weather that allowed it to draw in pre-heated air from around the engine - don't know how cold it was where you were working, but might be helpful?

With the blades, remember the DeWalt was a smaller diameter so that might have been a factor?
Also, down here a lot of the time cutting has to be wet, to avoid dust, any comments on best blades under that condition and, lastly...
Sometimes one has to cut concrete with re-bar in it, any blades have problems with that?

Stanley hands down best concrete saw is the Hilti not even kidding best 2 stroke engine impossible to flud and if you do you can start it fludded in one pull and they just cut the quickest been doing asphalt for years so tried then all out and hilti has the best support they come out swap your saw with a loaner while your saw gets fixed and the hilti van brings it back fixed and swaps them out

I bought the stihl ts500i!!! IT IS FUEL INJECTED!!! has way more power than the 450 and starts every time. ( If you follow the start procedure.) With the fuel injection even when hot you have to pump the bulb to pressurise the injection system. It has a whole lot more power probably as much as the 800. I am so impressed with this saw Stihl has my business when they make a saw like this. Now I rented a hilti and hated that saw, and i rented a makita and a buddy has one and I am just not a big fan. I am not a fan of echo products because well they suck. tried their chainsaw and will not buy that junk ever again.

30 years of cutting concrete. The Stihl ts 420 is the most versatile of all the saws. The top handle is easier on your back if u need to cut a floor without the cart or just about any application. Not saying the bigger horsepower saws don't cut faster, but who wants to lug around that weight all the time.

Never buy a hilti we have piles of junk ones at our shop they last about 1 year and that's it 👎👎 i have a brand new 420 on my truck and its a nice saw , starts great but it cuts a lil slow

In my opinion you need to use the same blade on all of the saws so you don’t have blade advantages. I would like a comparison of the different saws using all the same blade. I use the Husqvarna and the Dewalt at work all the time and they both have their uses.

I did not see, or I might have missed it. No mention of fuel that MUST be run in ALL small engines. Regardless of 2 or 4 cycle/stroke. You MUST run NON Ethanol fuel in all small engines. This is absolutely imperrative for proper operation, longevity, and reliability. Ethanol laced fuel is garbage, regardkess of "octane level". Never ever ever run ethanol fuel. Www.pure-gas.org id's a great site to find non-death inducing (ethanol) fuel. It's not a matter of if ethanol laced fuel will kill your investment, it's when! Ethanol free fuel might also be labeled as "rec" or "recreational" fuel. Small engines were NEVER designed to run off of ethanol laced garbage fuel. Now to give a one up to non ethanol fuel would be to get your engines retuned to run off of Aviation "AV" fuel. Lastly, you must put fuel stabilizer in your fuel if it won not be used within 30 days, after that, it starts to break down quickly. 1oz if stabil per 2.5 gallons will keep your fuel good for up to 1 year.

I fix way to much stuff that is destroyed by ethanol fuel. Fuel lines, filters, carb kits, scored pistons/cylinders. All because of ethanol fuel.

Appreciate the demos. However, all the video shows is the cutting of concrete/masonry/stone on a downward angle. The demos maybe fine for that specific application but to me that's only part of the story on these saws. We primarily use our saws to cut steel and various kinds of metals day in, day out. Jump on that Makita or Husqvarna and try some overhead cutting. Try it sideways at the waist. Try it more than once. Try it all day long. Nope, not going to last an hour with any of those saws except maybe the Dewalt and of course the TS 420. I cut steel from every imaginable angle on pretty much a daily basis. Climbing over or crawling under the TS 420 is the tool of choice for production type metal cutting. The Dewalt looks and sounds stout for what it is, but I'm not convinced it could withstand the kind of abuse we put our saws through. That said, it would be fun to put one in the field for a week just for giggles. As far as the TS 420 goes, it's compact and portable, it's user friendly with the top handle design, it's lightweight yet powerful and the wrap around front handle allows for cutting from nearly any angle or position. It's by far the hands down winner in my line of work. The fact that Stihl's parts and repair network is unparalleled just adds to it's appeal. We need our saws to be on the job, not in the shop. For me, it's the TS420 hands down. And as bonus it'll cut cinder block if the need arises.

BTW the 700 went through the block faster and smoother than the 970 with the touted blade. Video don't lie. Watch again.

The ts800 from stihl is exactly the same specs as the ts700 they were running EXCEPT it can hold a 16” blade but they r both 99cc and 6.8 hp. I own and love the ts700 and I have a strong running Hilti dsh700 and have owned the Husqvarna k760 and partner k950 and k1250 I really liked the 760 and 950 and the 1250 is the strongest made (119 cc same as the k1260 k1270) I’ve also owned the Makita dpc7321 which is a clone of wacker 1035 speedicut dolmar they were the same my first saw was a stihl ts400 a good soliidcsaw and I’ve owned a ts420. My favorite is the ts700 followed by the Husqvarna/partner k950 k760 then my Hilti DSH 700 then the ts420

I love all my Hilti products but there's too much plastic on their cut off saw and its heavy. I have two Stihl a ts410 and ts420 and just recently picked up a husqvarna k770 haven't used it yet but have a feeling I will enjoy this saw

STIHL 700 all day long, it may be a little heavier then the rest but it cuts everything you trow at it.
but you have to compare every saw withe the same blade of the same diameter or you can't really compare.

Certainly has the power a have a ts420. Got a top notch deal on it £450. Brand new. But probs would have went with the 700 knowing it had more power and the lower handle. Thinking about and the ts800. Same power but looks super heavy. Husqvarna has 16inch with way more power and it’s a fair bit light so not sure.

Saying you cannot ruin the engine the 4 stroke Makita is not true. Most concrete saws are not burnt up due to lack of lubrication as you stated, the more common occurrence would be dirt ingestion due to a dirty contaminated air filter that needs to be replaced. Keep in mind even on a 4 stroke replacing the air filter is a key factor to making your equipment last, also you must change the oil regularly. 2 stokes are still the best and will remain for many years to come. Also if you are not smart enough to mix your oil and gas properly you probably don’t need to be using a concrete saw to begin with. Next Echo should work on building a decent chainsaw before they try to make a concrete saw. The only chainsaws that are halfway decent is Echo is CS400 ca-490 and the CS600p.

Iloveapplefritters I am sorry the media has tricked you into thinking this... I own a multimillion dollar company that uses this equipment on a heavy industrial basis daily and also I used to work for the OEMs of all of the saws shown above and I have seen how things hold up on a larger scale. It’s hard to tell everyone that one way is better than another due to personal experience only, personal experience helps however you have only seen .000001 percent of the units in the world and how they actually hold up. I serviced thousands of these on a weekly basis and I can tell you that 100% handheld 2 stoke equipment lasts longer than the handheld 4 stroke if properly maintained. Generally speaking atvs dirt bikes cars etc 4 stroke last way longer however the small engine companies above have not yet perfected their platforms for 4 stroke Therefore as of today 2 stroke does lasts longer if properly maintained. 4 cycle will last a long time also if maintained properly.
And if you don’t believe me and you’d rather believe people like the ones who do these videos who are endorsed by the OEMs go right ahead. No one is paying me a dime I just like to help people from wasting their money because it is so hard to make now days.

I have a stihl ts 800 rated at 6.5hp with 16in blade that i love. It cuts bigger pipe. But it is heavy. I have a nice lite makitia with a 14 in blade that wont cut as deep and lacks the power but dam is it it lighter. I run what ever blade is cheap the day i need a blade. The reason i like gas saws is gas is in a bottle and battery’s need to charge. The makita has been rebuilt 4-5 times in 15 yrs not bad but a decent service bill. The stihl eats belts but we stock them. I see alot of huskys in the field and stihls. But everyone always is in aww when i pull out the 800.

@Miguel Iniguez it is because the small handheld 4 strokes have fabric diaphragms and messes them up somehow. A regular vaccum jet style carb has no issue. I run 4 stroke makita trimmers. One time I put mix fuel in it and I had to flush the whole carb out.

Big factor is to go with who your local shop likes to work with. Mainly Stihl and husqvarna. That way when there’s and issue, you get the sort fixed quick and cheap as they don’t have to send it away or wait on parts as often. K760 takes some beating. And even though it’s less refined than newer models the ts400 is the most reliable saw ever made. Just keep going and very simple.

So he raps the stihl out before he enters the cut and before the echo builds any rpm he throws it in hard to bog it. Sandbagging the saws. The Makita is slow as hell and doesn't want to start. No CC class comparison.

I've had the Stihl 700 for the past 2 seasons and it's a BEAST! I'm about Franky's size, but more spritely in youth ;) and the thing I don't like about it is the weight. When I'm cutting a stretch of pavers for a border to go in I have to take a few breaks to stand upright. So I actually am wanting to get the 420 b/c of the size and I certainly need a back up for when the 700 goes down. Out of my 2 seasons with the 700 the only thing other than filter changes is I just had to replace to ripcord in November. Great saw!

Concord blades on amazon. Best out there 1800sq ft patio with tons of cuts I can use one blade whole time

I threw the makita mm4 through the window of the shop I bought it at. p.o.c. Had to buy a used ts 500i so I can make a living without spending twice the time on cutting that the weak mm4 pice of garbage take to turn on and cut.

Shield placement on that Makita is terrible unless you can move it. Good luck cutting 8" block with that. Have to do it damn near verticle.

We have a husqvarna chop saw on our fire engine. It starts easy and cuts great. I’d like to see the shocker blade cut steel.

Don't waste $250 diamond blades on soft steel. Use an abrasive blade. I get you guys need a blade that can cut ANYTHING. I'm just saying that for the benefit of others.
