Its inception was announced by entrepreneurs Shahid Khan and his son Tony, with the former acting as the promotion's lead investor, and the latter being the founder, president and CEO of the company. Professional wrestlers Cody Rhodes as well as Matt and Nick Jackson, collectively known as The Elite, are the promotion's inaugural contracted talents. The three are serving as both in-ring performers and executive vice presidents alongside Kenny Omega, fellow professional wrestler and co-founder of The Elite.
Since October 2, 2019, AEW has produced a two-hour weekly TV show, AEW Dynamite, airing live on TNT in the United States. CBS Sports described AEW as "the first company with major financial backing to take a swing at beginning to compete with WWE on a major level in nearly two decades".

Even in his UFC days
Most ppl would give up UFC if they debuted with so much hype only to be so easily overwhelmed in the first match itself
He didn't even put up a fight
But he knew he had to have a better match where he atleast put up a fight..
So he swallowed his pride, went back and at least put up a fight and showed his skills in the ring.
Yes he was a jobber in UFC
But that was to be expected but I admire the balls to step in like that agnst top tier guys nevertheless

i love how CM punk's come back is completely contrast to danielson's. punk is starting with the non-main event guys to get them over, and prove to himself that he's still got it. Bryan knows he's still got it, and wants to start from the top to prove it to the world. Punk wants to give back, Bryan just want's to kick ass.
