I was taught young about firearms and firearm safety thsnk's to being a boy scout with a father who was serious about gun safety. So much so that (forward nearly 20 years and more then I'd say 8 years since my last handling of a firearm outside of stores) when my coworker was showing me his handgun, and after watching him pull the mag and clear it not even a foot in front of me and 5 seconds before, I immediately cleared the handgun with my finger off the trigger and pulled the slide back to verify clear. And not once did I point it at him. Joking or otherwise.

Yes, in this case it's both a case of assault and menacing, but again it would depend on the state. With that video evidence, if that older gentleman in the car brought this forward they could indeed get in trouble. Worst- if they decided to shoot someone, their entire organization wouldn't just be a militia anymore. I believe it would be classed as a form of mafia, since it is "Organized" and they committed a crime. They would have to show up to court, to disprove that they had anything to do with that individual member shooting. But if it happens more than once, or further- their entire organization would be down to be arrested. (Like being in a gang is legal, it's just... What does your gang do? If it does something illegal, every member of said gang will be targeted by authorities).

I honestly believe that this mans relationship with guns could be changed with proper education and training. If you're gonna lead a militia I'm not sure why you wouldn't want that education and information so you can go on to teach your large group of armed civilians protocol and standards of safety. 🤦🏻‍♀️ my Infantry DS would lose his shit at this. Did he even go to basic training? There was a time when a battle buddy of mine called his rifle/weapon a gun and my infantry drill sergeant hates that so he grabbed the weapon and chucked it across the defac field. We were practicing drill and ceremony that was about to happen in an hour so we were doing 15 manual count arms and his bolt was racked back when the drill sergeant had asked him a question about the next step in the count and that’s when he called it a gun. I cannot count how many times somebody dropped their weapon, whether at the range or not, and that firing pin would stay in position and you would still be able to pull the trigger and hear the audible click. There was one private at the range who dropped his rifle during qualification and there was a round in the chamber but funnily enough the weapon did not fire. The Bolt pushed forward and nothing happened besides him getting the dog shit smoked out of him.

First time I fired a weapon I left it on fire and I thought it was no big deal because the weapon was clear. When my Drill Sergeant came over to confirm that my M4 was clear he grabbed the back of head and slammed my face into my rifle screaming at me to tell him what was wrong with my weapon. When I was in Basic, the Drill Sergeants demonstrated: 1. Hitting the butt of the M16A2, would not automatically fire the rifle by hitting it while the rifle was pointed down Goddamn range when it was loaded. 2. Right after that the literally placed the butt of the rifle against one of their own head and firing it, showing that the recoil is negligible. 3. And "Keep your fingers of the F@%KING TIGGER, until you are ready to fire assholes."
This was in 2001, and I'm pretty sure after 20 years the M4 is a little bit safer, by design, to operate. Negligent discharges are caused by negligent idiots thinking they know what they are doing.

Y'all didn't realize ARs have become sentient? I work in the firearms department of a store and at closing time all the other rifles and handguns are just left in the display cases, but the ARs have to be put on a special rack, cable run through the trigger guards and locked. I always wondered about it, then one night the new guy forgot. Came in the next day and found them laying all over the liquor department passed out. Not one of them had discharged though. Maybe the " militias" weapons were just tired of their situation and trying to escape??

i was pheasant hunting with a friend "we werent always the smartest" and we were on a gravel road on a ATV and i was running my dads 25+ year old sportsmans 12 gauge when 10 pheasants flew out of the ditch next to us my friend slammed the brakes and i jumped off while we were still moving at about 15mph and im not gonna sugarcoat this, i ate shit in the gravel and the 25+ year old shot went flying it was off safety with a round in the chamber to when i fell and it did not fire so that guy is just flat out wrong.
