Weary Eyes
AUGUSTINES Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Parked the car in front of your house
Still can't get out weary eyes
And through the window
From the street below, your standin' there
Weary eyes
I ain't been around so we fell to the ground in the dirty snow
Weary eyes
But you're cleaned up now, and I hope it works out, is your daughter well
Weary eyes?

Cold sneaks into your bones when winter comes to break your heart
And all the tree lined streets don't mean anything when your world is freezing and covered in ice
Weary eyes
Weary eyes

Do you remember that song
When the bar sang along and we stumbled home
Weary eyes?
We laid on the roof, drank wine and we proved we could fix ourselves
Weary eyes

I'm in front of your house
Would you please come out I'm standing in my coat
Weary eyes
I'm in front of your house with the radio loud in the dirty snow
Weary eyes

Cold sneaks into your bones when winter comes to break your heart
And all the tree lined streets don't mean anything when your world is freezing and covered in ice
Weary eyes

Be still weary eyes
Be still weary eyes

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song Weary Eyes by Augustines depict the story of two people who have lost touch, but still have feelings for each other. The singer is parked outside the house of the person they are singing to, but they are unable to get out of the car due to weariness in their eyes. They see the person through the window and are reminded of their past together. The song progresses to highlight the struggles of winter, which the singer connects to the freezing state of their heart. Despite the freezing weather and icy surroundings, the singer reminisces about a time when they were happy together, listening to a song at a bar and laying on a roof with wine.

The lyrics carry a deeper meaning when analyzed in the light of weariness, numbness, and vulnerability. The weariness of the singer’s eyes indicates their emotional state and how they have been affected by past events. They are still affected by the person they are singing to, but are too tired to act on it. The reference to the winter indicates the harshness of life and how it can break one's heart, leaving them feeling numb and vulnerable. The memories of being happy together are a reminder of the feelings that the singer has lost touch with and what they seek from the person they are singing to.

Hi,

Saw them when they played in Paris (the city the video was made in...).
Incredible energy... And this one band that really does not lie when they say : "The audience is the fourth member of the group".
They'rea ll dedicated to their passion and they want to share it... and the audience, knowing their songs or not, is just overwhelmed with that energy.

It's a sad sad news that they decided to stop their adventure...

I really wish they can find another way to fulfill their dreams and would like to thank them to have allowed me to approch one of mine...

See you Augustines.

Unfortunately they don't exist anymore... I was lucky enough to see them once in the UK but knowing I can never see them again just makes me extremely sad.

That is so beautiful and emotional, I feel my heart beating so bad everytime I'm listening to Augustines' songs. And this video clip in Paris is reaching my heart as well, I even can't stop watching it. Cheers from France and thank you ❤️

I worked at a students radio, when the cd from Augustines came in. I was in love right away with the songs.....especially Strange Days is such a great song.....we were just a small students radio.....maybe they are not played in the big radio stations, but they have a space in my heart! Who produced the album? I wish I could work together with them and produce such great sound :D
