(AZ)
Yeah, back off vacation
Time to send y'all pros on a permanent vacation though

Check my track record, respect is my black Lexus
Expect me to act reckless, I'm rich and I'm ass naked
A mink with half leopard, my drinks and my glass separate
I roll and I'm half breathless, just stroll through my last message
Like... niggaz can't be serious
Never that leery shit, shit I'm mysterious
Move mystique on 'em, the doses increase on 'em
You ghost if you sleep on 'em
No joke when my peeps stormin
The cars they come in heavy
The God of the Serengeti
I charge with a large machete
And carve through ya starvin belly
Like... you shoulda known I was serious
Still the prettiest, point blank period

(Nas)
Feedin while alligators on swamps, got miles and acres
No comp, whether it's freestyle, or written down on papers
So far, I've been down from maybe, a decade, I'm still the raw-rest
Plus, suede, and ferragamo's, cause the made jury's on us
Garments fly apartments, they buggin say Nastradamus
Just wasn't one of my hardest, sold over a mil regardless
Chill with them hard looks, I spark clips
If you blood, or Muslim, 5 percent God, or crip

(AZ)
Yeah, ok

Guns in the glove compartment
I'm dapper but love the nonsense
The rappin' up of my conscience
I'm strapped when I come to conscious
Attack with a hundred monsters
They black and they runnin' bonkers
We back and we come to conquer

(Nas)
To master the fucking genre
Like, niggaz can't be serious
Still the grittiest, point blank period
Flow tight as a midget's closet
As tight as a prison block is
No sight of po-lice, when we riot
Fightin the system, fired
Be quiet, when I'm approaching
Get tired, jump out the roses
Sip Meyer's Rum out in open
I'm smokin' that hydro, choking
I'm scopin, my eyes are on you
Don't reach 'cause I tried to warn you
No street corner Nas won't come to
To bomb you, 4 5's will harm you
Eccentric, I'm live but calm too
Cordial, but crazy cautious
Roll through with some crazy gorgeous
Hoes, bodies like lady horses
Like, my whole stampede serious
Y'all niggaz is funny like Eddie Murphy's "Delirious"

Sped up or real slow, never neo-soul
Hip-Hop only rockin' with homey, we Co-D's
Nas not no Hives, or Coldplay

If there was an old days, we pioneered it
Anthony Cruz, Nasir Jones shit, very serious

Overall Meaning

In AZ's song Serious, he starts off strong, declaring he is back and ready to take on any professional rapper. He brags about his wealth, stating he is rich and unafraid to act recklessly. He also mentions his fashion sense, saying he wears a mink with half leopard and drinks from separate glasses. AZ claims he is mysterious and moves mystique. He notes that his cars come in heavy, and he is the god of the Serengeti. He reveals he has a machete and will carve through anyone who messes with him, thus emphasizing his point "you shoulda known I was serious."

In the second part of the song, Nas joins in, and the mood becomes harder. Nas raps about how he is still the rawest rapper, even after being in the game for a decade. He mentions that he has sold over a million records, regardless of the fact that the critics deemed his album Nastradamus, low quality. Nas challenges anyone to a freestyle, noting that he is still the master of the genre. He says that he is fighting the system and asks the people to be quiet when he approaches. He also notes that he is cordial but cautious and that he rolls with some crazy gorgeous women. Nas ends his part by reminiscing about the old days and proudly calling his real name, Anthony Cruz, and his stage name, Nasir Jones, stating that they are a force to be reckoned with, thus reinforcing Az's final chorus where he declares his whole stampede is serious.

Can never find the instrumental

“Serious Flow”

“First Verse”
“Back when you first tripped off Cole and Kendrick
I thought perhaps maybe my soul was tempted
Now my ink changes the solar metrics
Certain eras I was told have ended
Shattered dreams the gold has mended
A Deep person, but still the same Kay
Fire Sea urchins, surf my brain waves
You need Three excursions, to see the flames laid
I keep fame in complete secrecy
You’ll peep change because you need to see
Never distracted by the rearview
Man of action for the fearful
I feel your passion and I hear you
600 lashes until their see-through
Villains say this guy’s amongst us
Fear the dark beware the eyes of justice”

“2nd Verse”
“Talk to some goons like I know them, walk in some rooms as if I own it
My neighborhood favors good but ya know when the temp goes down
You best go out, anything can happen so the less you know now
It’s a factor you can’t count out like Covid, slow leak, slow burn, slow bid
Dope kid, when out of town they thought I was on some coke shit
Yo, I told you no, the drugs I peddle are legal, it’s best I don’t meddle with people
Time is of the essence and mine was for the present why settle for evil
Not random bars but a phantom’s scars If I don’t avoid a lot I’ll be deployed in plots”

“3rd Verse”
“Out of nowhere a party happens
I get tongue like when Cardi’s rappin
Homies swear but they’re hardly snappin
Just Blunt knowledge and Bacardi yappin
Try to be the next Charlie Chaplin
I hold it down, a city or fort can’t stop me
Passing sound, Mindy or Mork can’t clock me
Clean wifey’s crown, she’s pretty and short she’s got me”

“4th Verse”
“I sleep first, wake up settle the beast’s nerves
Whether candle light scotch or a cheap thirst
If dry I write because otherwise it looks hieroglyphic
Sex drives are pyro kitted, sword swallowers, more followers
Don’t rebel against my dictatorship
Give medals, slick favor shit
Amidst Tragedies like whole persecutions
His Majesty just cold accused him
Mad schemes, just ride with the bolden
Bad dreams, subside once awoken
Or you can't breathe, lie with no motion
Back in my life some nights I left without a trace
Lack of night light I did mess up and have no place
Now I have the powers back I need, 2-hour scraps with beats
Slapbox the backdrop to my amusement and spit that peace
I spit on pussy, love her, love her whole, love what I love about her least
Bust two nuts before we hit the tarmac
If she gets mad at my lack of class I gotta get that bar back
Don't expect me not to go in
Can't eject me I'm so hot I'm golden
I was on the block when you were on the benches
I told you stop or they'll be consequences
You wanted a glock and act all senseless
You listened now u got the real drop with all the switches"
