Together they released groundbreaking Australian hip hop music and have toured extensively around the country independently and in support of the likes of De La Soul, Xzibit, Mobb Deep, Lord Finesse, and the Hilltop Hoods. It was from here on that Torcha branched out with a new project, affording him a new sense of musical freedom

The lyrics of A Broken Silence's song "Run A Check" focus on the need to question authority and the consequences of blindly following leaders. The song highlights the idea that talk is cheap, and what is truly needed is action. The lyrics suggest that overreacting and blocking the streets during summits and meetings only harm the people who are trying to promote peace. Confiscating visas and using force against peaceful protesters only serves to worsen the situation.
The song also raises concerns about a world government that is unfolding and questions who really controls and runs the world. The lyrics mention the punishment for not keeping democracy in constant check and highlight the fact that lives are just numbers in the senate and house of reps. The song highlights some of the atrocities that are committed under the guise of "controlling resources" and "maintaining order" and calls on people to report such behavior. In essence, the song is a call to action for people to question authority and to be more vigilant about their rights.

Talk is cheap, of course it's more action that is needed, but where did it get us, overreacting at some meetings, all they do is block the street up at summits with our leaders, keep us back a hundred meters, or lunge trying to beat us, confiscating visas, black choppers & them Beamers, we here for that peace, so why them coppers got to greet us, maybe with guilt they filled, built, cause they mislead us, its heating, as we seeing time revealing all their secrets.
Words are easy to speak, but what we really need is action. However, whenever we do try to act, we get suppressed - usually by police at summits who stop us from coming within hundred meters, or worse, use force against us. They take away our visas, and use black helicopters and luxury cars to intimidate us. We come for peace, but why do they have to be aggressive? Perhaps they have a gnawing sense of guilt for having misled us. Things are getting heated up, as time is exposing all their secrets.
Some say a world government's unfurling, its coming quick, you know who controls, who we serve, whose running shit, punishment for not keeping democracy in constant check, pondered yet?, some already that monster threat, not only about Iraq, also about Tibet, but lives are numbers in their senates and their house of reps, allowing death to rain, courtesy of taxes, an evil axis, and so murderous be their tactics, fact is while these soldiers is strolling through borders, it's obvious, it's for the controlling of resources, corpses are not seen by the one's up in office, but laws are always coming under their auspice's, paupers, they be on the frontline, for yours, my lord, this is more than just punch lines and chorus, tell your sons and daughters, it is upon us, reporting, cause I know they lead the blind into the slaughter.
There are claims that a single government is looming over us, and it's approaching fast. But who controls it? Who are we serving? Who is running the show? Failure to maintain Democracy could lead to punishment. Have you pondered this? To some, this threat is already monstrous, and it's not just about Iraq, but Tibet as well. To the elected representatives, we are just numbers, while they let us die courtesy of taxes. Their tactics are murderous, as soldiers walk across borders to control resources. The people in offices do not see dead bodies, but they do operate under their own laws. The poor bear the brunt of wars, and this is not just about music and catchy choruses. Tell your children, because it's upon us. This is not reporting, it is a warning - because the leaders are leading us into a slaughter, and we don't even see it coming.
If you ever knew what's close, Do you think we ready folks, better stop and run a check, on what we heading for, we think we ready though, 'but we aint ready no', when our mind is locked and we be scrapping for that petty dough. X2
If you knew how close we were to danger, do you think we are ready? It's better to stop and assess where we are heading, because even though we think we are prepared, in reality we are not. Our minds are stuck, and we are fighting for small amounts of money, which is petty in comparison to what's at stake. Let's run a check on ourselves - are we ready for the looming crisis?
