In 2003, after a few years of jamming and playing small local shows, bassist Johnny Abdullah and guitarist Adam Rodgers joined the band. From there they put some self-produced recordings on MP3.com where they were discovered by manager Jorge Hernandez (by luck, they were the first band to pop up on the popular site purevolume. in and thus being the first band Hernandez listened to.
Noticing that they were catchy and attractive he signed them). Within a few months they had a deal with Immortal Records and released their EP Change Is The Only Constant. In 2005 the band released their first full-length, An Offer You Can't Refuse and landed a spot on the Vans Warped Tour.
Just a year after their first album, on August 15th A Change of Pace released their second record, Prepare The Masses. The band also added a fifth member to the band, Dan Parker (previously in Don't Let Go).
Band members include:
Torry Jasper: lead vocals
Jonathan Kelly: drums
Johnny Abdullah: bass, vocals
Adam Rodgers: lead guitar
Dan Parker: guitar, vocals
Take Care
A Change Of Pace Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Looking for a beat
Open your eyes
And repeat after me
You try so hard to find a rhythm in your heartbeat
The less you know the more you want
To try to justify the secrets of your lifetime
So take care of you and I'll take care of me
We're just lonely hearts looking for melodies
Take care of you and I'll take care of me
We're just lonely hearts looking for melodies
Break to break it down
Will I find clarity
On a hotel floor
When I fall asleep
You try so hard to find a rhythm in your heartbeat
The less you know the more you want
To try to justify the secrets of your lifetime
In the end he'll come for us
So take care of you and I'll take care of me
We're just lonely hearts looking for melodies
Take care of you and I'll take care of me
We're just lonely hearts looking for melodies
I'm looking for a safe way out
Cause I am in the habit of breaking young girls' hearts
I've been looking for a safe way out (safe way out)
Cause I am in the habit of breaking young girls' hearts
I've been looking for a safe way out (safe way out)
Cause I am in the habit of breaking young girls' hearts
You try so hard to find a rhythm in your heartbeat
The less you know the more you want
To try to justify the secrets of your lifetime
In the end he'll come for us
So take care of you and I'll take care of me
We're just lonely hearts looking for melodies
Take care of you and I'll take care of me
We're just lonely hearts looking for melodies
I've been looking for a safe way out (safe way out)
(cause I'm in the habit of breaking young girls' hearts)
(safe way out)
The lyrics of A Change Of Pace's song Take Care allude to the feeling of searching for meaning and a sense of fulfillment in life. The lyrics reflect a search for a rhythm that is not just related to the heartbeat but goes deeper, into the hidden secrets of the self. The opening lines of the song suggest a sense of urgency to find meaning in life before time runs out. The repetition of the line "take care of you and I'll take care of me" in the chorus may reflect a shared sense of longing between two people, both searching for a way to feel complete. The repetition of "looking for melodies" in the chorus solidifies that this is a song about soul-searching.
The lyrics also portray the singer as someone who has a tendency to hurt others. The line "I am in the habit of breaking young girls' hearts" suggests that the singer struggles with relationships, possibly because they are unable to find the rhythm that they are searching for in life. The line "Will I find clarity on a hotel floor when I fall asleep" suggests that the singer is overwhelmed and confused, trying to find answers anywhere they can, but perhaps without success. The song concludes with "in the end he'll come for us," which could either be a reference to an eventual afterlife, or perhaps a metaphor for facing the inevitable reckoning for one's actions in life.
