The band was on both the 2005 and 2006 Vans Warped Tours (often on the smaller Ernie Ball Stage). They were also at the 2006 annual music festival held in the Phoenix area, "Edgefest".
The original album "An Offer You Can't Refuse" was composed of all band members except Dan Parker who was added to the line-up. A Change Of Pace also goes by the acronym "ACOP".
On June 1st, 2008, the band revealed on their MySpace blog how original singer, Torry Jasper would be replaced by their good friend Micah Bentley. The change brought about a new sound, as well as a new EP entitled "Just No Better Way." The news comes merely weeks before A Change of Pace heads out on their summer tour.
After delays, the band put forth their final LP in February 22, 2011, entitled "Couldn't Be Worse". It incorporated both of their older and newer sounds. Shortly thereafter, on March 13, it was announced on their Facebook page that after 10 years, they would disband, but not before playing a farewell show on April 22 at The Clubhouse in Tempe, Arizona.
A Change of Pace mixed their own brand of metal, punk and emo.
The band members as of 2011:
Micah Bentley: Vocals
Jonathan Kelly: Drums
Johnny Abdullah: Bass, vocals
Adam Rodgers: Lead guitar
Dan Parker: Guitar

A Change of Pace Lyrics

take my word for what its worth
life at a stand still not one second passes
and in the asphault I see a best friend
(crashing through the window)
Dont move
Save me
To god above
And would you save everyone if you
saw them dying
watch as they slip through your hands
bring me back to life bring them back to life
one step further from all of this
Abstract emotions in dealing with death
the warmth of my breath turns to ice
beating the concrete your hands
cut and bruised and in the end
not a question of why
(crashing through the window)
Dont move
Save me
Cry out
To god above
And would you save everyone
if you saw them dying
watch as they slip through your hands
bring them back to life bring them back to life
one step further from all of this
Never forget what I'm bleeding
gasp for air now I am apart of this
leave me suffering never break
your promises
never forget and you'll
never forget what i've done
And would you save everyone
if you saw them dying
watch as they slip through your hands
bring me back to life bring them back to life
one step further from all of this
Dont move
Save me
Cry out
To god above
The lyrics to A Change of Pace's song “Asleep at the Wheel” seem to be centered around the concept of death and the aftermath of losing someone close. The song opens with the lines, "Asleep at the wheel a red light mistake, take my word for what it's worth." This introduction to the song is a strong metaphor for life and how quickly it can end if we're not paying attention. This idea is further emphasized by the lines, "life at a standstill not one second passes, and in the asphalt, I see a best friend." The singer is telling us that time seems to slow down in the aftermath of a tragedy, and that it can be difficult to come to terms with the loss of someone we love.
The chorus of the song continues the theme of loss, as the singer cries out to God to save them and those around them. The lines "And would you save everyone if you saw them dying, watch as they slip through your hands," paint a picture of helplessness and desperation. The verses that follow are equally fraught with emotion, as the singer describes the physical and emotional pain that comes with mourning. The lines, "the warmth of my breath turns to ice, beating the concrete your hands cut and bruised," communicate a sense of numbness and devastation.
Overall, "Asleep at the Wheel" is a powerful song that deals with difficult subject matter in a meaningful way. The lyrics are well-crafted and convey a sense of grief and loss that is both relatable and poignant.
