I'm Already Gone
A Day to Remember Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

As I look round this make shift moving house
I'm searching for whatever's left of me
It's on the ground in a box that reads lost and found
It's lost and found

She said, just let it go
She said, it's all you've ever known
And I'm, I'm already gone
I'm already something to someone that I don't know
When will I know?
And I'm, I'm out making rounds
On every side of town
That I've been through, that I know
To find my reason to come back home

I've worked it out you'll always bring me down
From here on out I'm doing things for me
I'm impatient now I'm not the type for life alone,
I need someone

She said, just let it go
She said, it's all you've ever know

And I'm, I'm already gone
I'm already something to someone that I don't know
When will I know?
And I'm, I'm out making rounds
On every side of town
That I've been through, that I know
To find my reason to come back home

With everything that sets me back,
I push back harder to clear the way
There's not a thing that I regret,
Can't live my life in yesterday

With everything that sets me back,
I push back harder to clear the way
There's not a thing that I regret,
Can't live my life in yesterday

Life in yesterday

And I'm, I'm already gone
I'm already something to someone that I don't know
When will I know?
And I'm, I'm out making rounds
On every side of town

That I've been through, that I know
To find my reason to come back home

Overall Meaning

The song "I'm Already Gone" by A Day to Remember is about the journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance. The lyrics are about a person who is searching for their lost identity and trying to find their way back home. The "make-shift moving house" represents the transient state of the person's life, where they have not found their true home. The box that reads "lost and found" represents the person's lost sense of self, which they are trying to reclaim.

The person is seeking guidance from others, but they realize that they need to find their own way. They are tired of being held back and want to take control of their own life. The lyrics "With everything that sets me back, I push back harder to clear the way" signifies that the person is determined to overcome the obstacles they face and move forward.

The chorus reflects the uncertainty and confusion the person feels about their current situation. They feel like they are something to someone, but they don't know who that someone is. They are searching for their reason to come back home, but they don't know what that reason is. The repetition of the line "When will I know?" emphasizes the person's frustration and lack of direction.

Overall, the song is a reflection of the journey of self-discovery and the struggle to find one's true identity and direction in life.

I know no one from the band will probably read this, but in hopes that someone will read it, or I'll look back on it, I just wanted to say thank you. Maybe you've just caught me in my feels, but you guys are absolutely phenomenal. You've helped me so much through life. Even just the song titles hit me right in the heart. "Sometimes you're the hammer, Sometimes you're the nail" gets me every time, I don't even have to listen to the song. You guys' lyrics are touching, and very encouraging, I just wanted to say thanks for helping me through depressing and happy times in my life! Have a good one and rock on.
