In an interview with www.spinner.com, Sudol shared how she came up with the name "(I) had a bunch of books open on a table, "a fine frenzy" jumped off a page of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' [Shakespeare] and it was just right, though every now and then I wonder if it's a bit ... flowery."
Sudol developed the sound of A Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.
The second album, Bomb in a Birdcage, was released on 8 September 2009. A third album, Pines, was released in 2012.

New Heights
A Fine Frenzy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The face of rival-less gods, deep in your thoughts
Come here, oh, closer to touch, never enough
Let me climb under your skin, oh let me in
From your lips a precipice
I hang from every word
Height and seeking
New heights and seeking
How to keep them high
The calm of turbulent seas, fallen to sleep
And when the troubles arise, we hold on tight
How can a body contain something so great
My shell may suddenly burst out will come birds
From your, lips a precipice
I hang on every word
Height and seeking
Oh we are reaching
New heights and seeking
How to keep them high
We will find a way
We will find a way
We will find a way
We will find a way
And we are high and seeking,
Oh we are reaching
New heights and seeking
How to keep them high
And we are high and seeking,
Oh we are reaching
New heights and seeking
How to keep them high
And we are high and seeking,
Oh we are reaching
New heights and seeking
How to keep them high
The lyrics of A Fine Frenzy's "New Heights" are quite metaphorical and convey a message of awe towards a powerful entity, as well as a desire to be closer to it. The first line describes this entity as a "thunderous thing, wondrous king," portraying it as something great and impressive, like a deity. This impression is reinforced in the second line, where it is said that this entity has the face of "rival-less gods," making it unique and unmatched in greatness. In the third line, the singer beseeches this entity to come closer, to "let [them] climb under [its] skin," indicating a desire for intimacy and familiarity.
The second stanza continues to describe the entity's power and impact, with its words being described as a "precipice," something the singer hangs from and trembles at the thought of. However, this doesn't seem to be a negative thing, as the singer and entity are described as "height and seeking," reaching new heights together and trying to keep them high. The third stanza portrays this pursuit of greatness as a peaceful but not uneventful journey, with troubles arising and being faced with determination. The final stanza repeats the sentiment of reaching new heights and seeking to keep them high, always in pursuit of something greater.
