In an interview with www.spinner.com, Sudol shared how she came up with the name "(I) had a bunch of books open on a table, "a fine frenzy" jumped off a page of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' [Shakespeare] and it was just right, though every now and then I wonder if it's a bit ... flowery."
Sudol developed the sound of A Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.
The second album, Bomb in a Birdcage, was released on 8 September 2009. A third album, Pines, was released in 2012.

Rangers
A Fine Frenzy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The crumbs are gone and the way, and the way is lost
Melancholy phantoms eye our skins
Poison apples falling with the wind
Hear the sigh of the trees
Those who enter here never leave
They are the hunters
We are the rabbits
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want to be found
Further in and on we go
Sightless creatures tugging at our clothes
Cutting through the twilight, sword in hand
Strangers once united against the land
At the sound of the bells
They're pulling paper lanterns from their shelves
The rangers stream out of their cabins
They are the hunters and we are the rabbits
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want you tracking us down
The rangers stream out of their cabins
Raising their muskets
Flashing their badges
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want to be found
They keep hiding a quiet like
They'll keep sneaking
But they won't find us
They'll keep living a quiet life
You and I
You and I
The ranger scream out of their cabins
They are the hunters,
We are the rabbits
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want you tracking us down
The rangers stream out of their cabins
Raising their muskets,
Flashing their badges
Maybe we don't want to be found
Maybe we don't want to be found
The lyrics to A Fine Frenzy's "Rangers" tell the story of a group of people wandering through unfamiliar territory. They have reached a point where they are lost and being stalked by hunters, who have the power to track them down. The "melancholy phantoms" and the "sightless creatures" add to the eerie and foreboding atmosphere of the song, making the listener feel as if they are also navigating through the unknown with the group. The concept of wanting to remain hidden and not be found is emphasized throughout the song, creating a sense of fear and desperation.
The phrase "Maybe we don't want to be found" is repeated several times, almost as if it is a mantra for the group. They are afraid of being tracked down by the rangers and prefer to continue to hide and live in obscurity. The use of the metaphorical imagery of "poison apples" falling with the wind and the "strangers once united against the land" add to the song's haunting and mystical tone. Overall, the lyrics to "Rangers" tell a story of fear, desperation, and a desire to remain hidden from an unknown danger.
