In an interview with www.spinner.com, Sudol shared how she came up with the name "(I) had a bunch of books open on a table, "a fine frenzy" jumped off a page of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' [Shakespeare] and it was just right, though every now and then I wonder if it's a bit ... flowery."
Sudol developed the sound of A Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.
The second album, Bomb in a Birdcage, was released on 8 September 2009. A third album, Pines, was released in 2012.

A Fine Frenzy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Rearranging
Rains came without warning
Stormy storming
Vessel once so mighty
I held on tightly
But waves, they played like giants
Down down how I miss you now
Down down how I miss you now
Life without a witness
Is a lonely business
No one here to rise with, none to lie with
Wish it were a bad dream
Sad sea, sad dream
Wish I could awake
A Fine Frenzy's song Sadseasong is a beautifully written and metaphorical representation of the emotions that come with heartbreak. The song talks about the sea, which is always changing and rearranging, much like the emotions of a person grieving a lost love. The rains that came without warning and the stormy weather symbolize the abrupt and unexpected end of the relationship, leaving the person in a state of confusion and chaos.
The metaphor of a vessel once so mighty that the singer held on tightly to represents the relationship that once seemed strong and sturdy but crumbled in the face of the storms of life. The waves, represented as giants and water lions, overwhelmed the vessel and left it to sink into the depths of the sea. The singer is left to grieve the loss of the relationship and misses the comfort and the familiarity of their partner.
The lyrics "Life without a witness is a lonely business, no one here to rise with, none to lie with" represent the aftermath of a break-up. The loneliness and isolation that one feels after losing their partner are evident. The singer wishes that it was a dream and that they could wake up from the sadness. The song beautifully captures the feeling of loss and the grief that can accompany it.
