In an interview with www.spinner.com, Sudol shared how she came up with the name "(I) had a bunch of books open on a table, "a fine frenzy" jumped off a page of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' [Shakespeare] and it was just right, though every now and then I wonder if it's a bit ... flowery."
Sudol developed the sound of A Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.
The second album, Bomb in a Birdcage, was released on 8 September 2009. A third album, Pines, was released in 2012.

A Fine Frenzy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
See the bright face of a new day
And the darkness fades
And the darkness fades
And the darkness fades away
And we
Sail set sail
Salt taste and the dolphins play games
And the sea birds race
As the old flag is raised
And the darkness fades
And the darkness fades
And the darkness fades
And the darkness fades away
And we
Sail set sail
Sail set sail
And the weight of the world is lost
And the blues in the blue we cross
Everything gone is gone
Good man with the capable hands
Sails for new lands
And he understands
That you can’t go back
No, no you can’t go back
No you can’t look back
No, you can’t look back
When you
Sail set sail
Sail set sail
A Fine Frenzy's song Sailingsong is a celebration of new beginnings and the triumph of light over darkness. The song opens with a beautiful image of dawn, breaking on the cool waves, signalling the start of a new day. The brightness of the new day is a metaphorical representation of hope, removing the darkness of the past. In the chorus, we hear the repeated refrain "Sail set sail", a call to take advantage of this new day and to embrace the future with open arms, leaving the past behind.
The second verse emphasizes the joy of being in the moment as the sailors take in their surroundings. The salt taste of the sea and the playful dolphins signify the beauty and life of nature, while the sea birds are a symbol of freedom. The raising of the old flag marks the end of the old and the start of the new. In the following chorus, the repetition of "And the darkness fades away" implies that the darkness of the past is left behind as the sailors move forward.
In the final verse, we hear about a brave and capable sailor who understands the importance of moving on. He knows that looking back or trying to return to the past will be futile. The final repetition of "Sail set sail" is a reminder to the listener to seize new opportunities without hesitation, leaving behind all their worries and fears. Sailingsong is a song of hope and encouragement to embrace new beginnings, no matter how daunting they may seem.
