In an interview with www.spinner.com, Sudol shared how she came up with the name "(I) had a bunch of books open on a table, "a fine frenzy" jumped off a page of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' [Shakespeare] and it was just right, though every now and then I wonder if it's a bit ... flowery."
Sudol developed the sound of A Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.
The second album, Bomb in a Birdcage, was released on 8 September 2009. A third album, Pines, was released in 2012.

The World Without
A Fine Frenzy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Elbowed the stars and said,
"Let's do our best to make it hard for them".
Your house turned into paper cranes
We watched the wind blow them away
Some sorry comfort I was then
The weight of a mountain
From climbing up to me
We can work this out
I believe, although it seems impossible
They turned our skeletons to wood
And scattered matches underfoot
We must walk carefully in place
The circles darken round our eyes
And yet our bodies, when combined
They gleam like diamonds in a cave
The weight of a mountain
The skin off your knees
From climbing back to me
We can work this out
I believe, although it seems impossible now
Keep the world without
Only the two of us count
Two voices loud
It is possible now
They try to tear us down
We'll find our way again
Heloise gave her whole heart to Pete
Now eternally sleeps by his side
Oh, go ahead, fate, oh, give us your best
What is worth living for is worth a fight
Into the night
We can work this out
I believe, although it seems impossible now
Yeah, without a doubt
We'll work it out
They can't hurt us now
On my knees, it makes me want to scream and shout
Yeah, we'll work this out
Just the two of us
Keep the world without
In A Fine Frenzy's song, "The World Without," the lyrics describe a couple who are facing difficult circumstances, like their house being turned into paper cranes and their skeletons being turned into wood. Despite the challenges, the couple remains hopeful that they can "work this out" and continue their relationship. The weight of the struggles they face is described as being like a mountain, but they are willing to climb "back to me" to find a resolution. The lyrics also touch on the theme of perseverance, as the couple fights to keep their love alive and overcome any obstacles that come their way.
The line "Heloise gave her whole heart to Pete, now eternally sleeps by his side" is a reference to the tragic love story of Heloise and Abelard from the 12th century. The couple faced numerous challenges, including being separated and Heloise's uncle castrating Abelard, but they remained devoted to each other until their deaths. The phrase "keep the world without" in the chorus refers to the idea that the couple only needs each other to maintain a sense of happiness and stability, even if the world around them is tumultuous.
