Their 1982 self-titled debut album, coming after their 1981 EP 'Telecommunication'. involved themes of alien abduction and disorientation in modern society, comparable to space rock. The band split in 1985 after later songs, taking in inspiration from commercial pop rock of the era instead, failed to reach an audience. Score reformed the band with new members in 1995. The original lineup reunited for a handful of small club dates in 2003. Since then, Score has sporadically performed his version of the band with a fluctuating lineup.

I hear the shadows calling my name
Lost in the glow of the neon lights
My heart is calling
Say you will answer me
Never again
Dancing alone under the cloudy moon
No one can see all the tears I cried
Dancing alone, lost to the beat
My heart is calling
Say you will answer me
Never again for the dancer
I am the dancer
I'm the dancer
I am the dancer
Dancing alone here in this crowded room
Millions of faces, but no one I see
Dancing alone, the shadows call too soon
My heart is calling
Say you will answer me
Never again
I'm just a dancer, wo oh, wo oh oh
I'm just a dancer who needs more, wo oh
I'm dancing in and out of time
You keep me waiting on the line, wo oh
I am the dancer
My heart is calling
Say you will answer me
Never again
I'm just a dancer, wo oh, wo oh oh
I'm just a dancer who needs more, wo oh
I'm dancing in and out of time
You keep me waiting on the line, wo oh
I am the dancer
I am the dancer
I am the dancer
I am the dancer
I am the dancer
The lyrics of "Never Again" by A Flock of Seagulls describe a person who feels alone and lost in the city, dancing alone and crying to the rhythm of the music. Despite being surrounded by millions of people, the dancer cannot connect with anyone and feels like he/she is waiting for someone to answer his/her call. The repetition of "Never again" implies the desire to forget this pain and loneliness and move on. The lyrics provide a clear image of the isolation and desperation that some people might feel when they are in a crowded place without anyone to share their emotions with.
The song also suggests the idea that dancing can be a form of escape or release from suffering. The dancer is lost in the beat and becomes one with the rhythm, which provides a momentary relief from the loneliness and sadness. However, the shadows keep calling the dancer back to reality, reminding him/her of the emptiness that still lingers.
Overall, "Never Again" is a haunting and emotionally charged song that evokes the feelings of loneliness, desperation, and the desire for human connection.
