Their 1982 self-titled debut album, coming after their 1981 EP 'Telecommunication'. involved themes of alien abduction and disorientation in modern society, comparable to space rock. The band split in 1985 after later songs, taking in inspiration from commercial pop rock of the era instead, failed to reach an audience. Score reformed the band with new members in 1995. The original lineup reunited for a handful of small club dates in 2003. Since then, Score has sporadically performed his version of the band with a fluctuating lineup.

And you made me smile
For a little while
I was falling in love
I saw your eyes
And they touched my mind
Although it took a while
I was falling in love
I saw your eyes (I saw your eyes, I saw your eyes)
And you made me cry (and you made me cry, and you made me cry)
And for a little while (a little while, a little while)
I was falling in love
I was falling in love
Falling in love
Falling in love
Falling in love
Falling in love
The song "Space Age Love Song" by A Flock of Seagulls is a love song about falling in love at first sight when you lock eyes with someone. The lyrics describe the singer's experience of seeing someone's eyes and feeling a variety of emotions - joy, weakness, and vulnerability - all at once. The mention of "space age" is a nod to the futuristic sound of the band, as if their love transcends the current era.
The lyrics are simple but effective, as they accurately capture the overwhelming feeling of love at first sight. The use of repetition, especially with the line "falling in love," emphasizes the intensity of the emotional experience. The repetition of "I saw your eyes" further emphasizes that the singer's love is rooted in that one encounter.
Overall, the song is a timeless representation of the giddy, euphoric feeling of love and how seeing someone's eyes can lead to a completely life-changing moment.

VAL13C man, I just discovered Flock of Seagulls TODAY. I’ve heard I Ran before but never knew who it was by.
I manage a business centre in Liverpool and we have a chiropodist who has a space here. A very rambunctious guy and lady came in, and she had come to get her feet done.
I got talking to the guy, and he said he played bass in a band, blah blah blah so has every older guy. When I said I was American, he said his band was quite big in the states in the 80s.
I had never heard of this “Flock of Seagulls” but told him my drum kit is next door, so we went through and he drummed for a sec, then grabbed the bass across the stage (the centre is a part of our church, so all instruments are there). So we jammed for a couple minutes and went back to the business centre.
Had a good chat, and when they left, I started YouTubing and Googling this band to see who he was.
When I found this song, it got very real for me. AVA is one of my favourite bands, and to hear this sound in the 80s, which CLEARLY influenced the AVA guys, I found it amazing to have met a guy who was a part of influencing them. ‘Twas a good day today!

@@liamgillett9068 It's timeless because it's "Space Age" as the tittle says. It still sounds pretty futuristic.

I won't forget, in 2018 my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. I made a lot of mistakes in my short sweet time I had left with my dad. We always bonded over music. His memory was so perfect. He could tell me when and where he wqs and what he was doing when he first heard any music. This among other is one the songs he showed me and opened up to me about. He passed in 2019, he lives with me every day in the music he showed me. I'm so thankful he showed me the songs that made an impression on him.
