Their 1982 self-titled debut album, coming after their 1981 EP 'Telecommunication'. involved themes of alien abduction and disorientation in modern society, comparable to space rock. The band split in 1985 after later songs, taking in inspiration from commercial pop rock of the era instead, failed to reach an audience. Score reformed the band with new members in 1995. The original lineup reunited for a handful of small club dates in 2003. Since then, Score has sporadically performed his version of the band with a fluctuating lineup.

I want to hold her

Whose that lovely girl in the corner
She dance and sings
She looks like from a movie scene
Maybe a hero is in her dreams

She's so fine
She hypnotized me with desire
I wanna gold her
She gets me high

In "Who's That Girl" by A Flock of Seagulls, we see the singer mesmerized by a girl he sees across the room. He's taken by her beauty, her singing and dancing, and the way she looks like she's in a movie scene. He's infatuated and wants to be with her, to make her his own.
The repetition of "She's got it" reinforces the idea that this girl has some intangible quality that the singer finds irresistible. He's clearly smitten and wants to get to know her better, but he doesn't even know her name. The chorus, "Who's that girl," emphasizes this point.
The line "Maybe a hero is in her dreams" adds an interesting layer to the song. It suggests that the girl might have aspirations beyond just being a love interest for the singer. Perhaps she has her own story to tell, and the singer wants to be a part of it.
Overall, "Who's That Girl" is a classic tale of infatuation and desire, set to an upbeat synth-pop soundtrack.

She's got it!

This is a great little pop-rock song, but Paul Reynolds's absence is glaringly obvious. It's such a radical departure from the heavy new-wave sound AFOS became known for on their 1st 3 albums. I guess Paul Reynolds was a huge part of that sound.

I art directed this video! The band were so great to work with. We were laughing and joking the whole time. Fairlight loaned us the hardware for us to use as a promotion for their new computer imagery tech. Mickey Geoghegan directed. He is a fabulous director (Soundgarden: Black Hole Sun 👍)
