Light
A Forest Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A summer dream
Windows open wide
And my thoughts
Tumble out
Into the night, into the night

The forest swell
Branches catch the breeze
It is full
Of the hope
The light brings, the light brings

Footstep by footstep
We walk to the ocean
And then when we dive in
Our secrets unhidden
Seasons take root now
And she is the reason
A lifetime forgiven
We've reached the beginning

The river writes
Patterns underneath
Tells a truth

Words along
Can not speak, can not speak

Overall Meaning

Interpretation:
A Forest's song "Light" is about the beauty and tranquility of being in nature, and finding peace through it. The lyrics describe a summer night where the windows are open wide and the singer's thoughts tumble out into the night. The forest surrounding them is alive with the hope that the light brings. As they walk down to the ocean, they shed their secrets and begin anew. Seasons take root and they find forgiveness, reaching a new beginning.

The river writes patterns underneath, telling truths that words cannot speak. This suggests that the singer has found a deep connection with nature, and through this connection, they have unlocked new insights and perspectives about life. The song is a beautiful homage to the power of nature and its ability to heal and transform.

Fabulous!! How exciting for you. Among the many things I just adore about Jenny is that design, color, joyful self awareness and expansions on beginning designs is her passion. But she’s driven to SHARE‼️

She’s a born teacher with ideas bubbling over and sharing ideas and lessons learned must be so very satisfying to her and hers.

I once read about how she got into sewing after she retired. It was a kind of an intervention strategy her children came up with. And what did she do? Zoom‼️ And the rest is history.

Check out her story. You’ll enjoy it no end.

I love watching both she and Donna Jordan. Donna is also a superb teacher. They both love fabrics and color and are endlessly creative.

Donna is very precise, which I do prefer to Jenny’s approach.

But they are a perfect pair. If they had time together I’m sure they’d talk endlessly.

I’m so very excited for you as you venture down this road to new adventures.

There is no greater compliment to one who teaches than knowing that by sharing their expertise their ideas will wander on to new places.

It’s really ripples on a pond, nu?

ENJOY ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

Jenny: as a person who is creatively challenged by rotations I always enjoy watching you manipulate sections. I can immediately see if something is amiss but it can awhile for me to figure out where things go.

This, I think, is one of the single greatest gift you bring to your fan club. You’re cheerfully chatting along and mention that it’s a better/good idea to do certain things that help with precision. Examples: setting seams before pressing.

I’m a stickler for finger pressing so it’s easier to nest seams precisely but you expertly line up the cross seams and they match very well.

Isn’t it wonderful how we quilters can do things a bit differently from each other and still create beauty and charm!

When I can’t sleep I often watch your videos because they are always so happy. Especially in these very parlous times it’s helpful to withdraw from the world every now and then.

Jenny, I’ve purchased 3 sewing machines over the years, thinking each time that maybe the features on the machine would enable me to quilt…wrong. You’ve shown me that the right teachers will enable me to quilt! I’ve made two baby quilts, and I love this one soooo much that I’m going to grow up now and make this beautiful adult quilt. Thank you Jenny and MSQC. 💚

Thanks Jenny for doing these tutorials. I love how you teach them. You actually understand that not all sewers have the same brain and help us to understand how ours work too. I love these colors but having made one already with a black background and having difficulty seeing I either need to get a brighter lightbulb to see or change the background to a different dark color, maybe navy. Love your hst shortcuts. They help so much.

The quilt pattern looks so easy and beautiful, but WOW! That fabric with the black background! Simply stunning!

2 absolutely stunning quilts. Blues & purples are my favorite colors so of course this tutorial was a hit. I keep saying I need to stop buying fabric until I’ve used up what I have but then another one shows up that I simply must have! And that border for the panel quilt is brilliant!

I'm a lefty too and also I'm anglely challenged. Beautiful quilts. Thank you and your crew for all the amazing tutorials you all do.

Brigit Somerville
