I watched the full interview and I have to say, I am not for or against Yaser Qadhi, I do not really follow his lectures but the strategic cuts and editing of this video is misleading. For example, in the beginning when Mohammad Hijab mentioned the degrees, Yaser Qadhi immediately thanked Allah alone and down-played his knowledge. Also, he was talking about his background and experiences when speaking of his admittance and struggles in Medina, not boasting. This type of editing, taking things out of context is absolutely unislamic. Prophet Muhammad SAW advised us to give our brothers the benefit of the doubt and this is quite the opposite- it is misconstruing a Muslim’s speech in order to make them appear more arrogant and evil. Authuubillaah. Is this video done for the sake of Allah or to further divide the Muslims and feed into a cult of like-minded self-righteous individuals?

@Naeem Anthony yes he also exposed how quran is not word by word, letter by letter the word of Allah. And how there are Bizzare and Extreme verses in the quran and how we need a reform in our deen and how he only believes in the authenticity of the Quran and not the ahadith. He used to be one of those so called madkhalis as he's referring to Salafis. He's now a changed man and is starting to open up to the Shiites. He went to Yale to learn Islam.
What else do you want. I know go do your research and stop loving someone because of their charisma. No one can save you except Allah and then your striving and struggling. Put your mind into things and think what the truth is. Is interpreting the deen ourselves more justified or getting our deen from those whom It was directly taught to by the prophet peace be upon him. That's Salafiyyah following the ways of the 3 righteous predecessors and if its anything other then that then that's not salafiyyah. May Allah guide and forgive all of us.

Me too, but if I could add a small point. Don't worry about scholars disappearing. As Sheikh Ghunayman said, Islam has no need for scholars because Islam has Allah. If we lose the scholars Allah has made and sent for us, we pray to Allah to send them again or something equal or better. The only thing we should be afraid of is being left in the dark by Allah. If Allah doesn't leave us in the dark but removes scholars then know that it is good for you.

When someone say Sheikh Ahmed Deedat a scholar he said no, he was just a student. Even Dr Zakir Naik when he was called a scholar he also said no. He clearly said "I am just a student of Comparative Religion". In other occasions he said referring to himself, "Zakir Naik is no one".

So as far as I could remember there is no Muslim scholar ever claimed he is a scholar. They may say other people as scholars but they never see themselves as scholars. So from this we come to know, anyone who claim himself as a scholar is not a scholar coz real scholar will never say they r scholar. So those who claim it might be fake scholar.

I think a big factor in this is the western culture promotes showing off yourself as much as possible otherwise people wouldn't even look at you. Unfortunately it also promotes a culture of arrogance and a battle to be better than others. The culture of true scholars has and always will be of amazing respect and humility. Yasir Qadhi has his faults. as does everyone, but it's a cause of a much bigger problem in the west.

@Sabah Zarid Though, we shouldn't point our finger at them and disregard them entirely. They've done lots of good as well and i'm sure there have been Muslims or non-Muslims that have benefited from people like Yasir Qadhi. The content he conveys is of the Quran and Sunnah after all. 'How' that information is conveyed may not necessarily be the purest of forms but at least its being conveyed. On one hand we shouldn't idolize them as some do, but on the other we shouldn't disregard them either. Who are we to criticize them if the scholars themselves wouldn't criticize others..

Jazakum Allah khayran. Similarly the Shaykh I studied under always used to call himself a student and shabab despite his Grey hair. He preferred to sit with youth and talk of Deen than talk about himself. He suffered prison and was tortured by King Hussein but was gentle with believers.
Yasir Qadhi is no alim. Even his mistakes in his thought and character become more pronounced with the more he talks. I have yet to hear him say he doesn't know whereas imam Malik (rh) used to say "I don't know".

MashAllah Shaikhs are so humble. But I've listened this podcast and Yasir Qadhi was trying to make a point when he was mentioning his achievements. You could at least share the source of the original video. Picking out parts to misrepresent people is actually a big sin. Of course he does have some mistakes but he has publicly changed some of his statements and admitted that he was wrong. This is a sign of sincerety for me. I think there are better things we can focus on instead of publicly criticising our sincere Muslim brothers. It causes harm more than benefits. This a completely personel video to belittle a Muslim and it's not right. You could just share the clips of the Shaikhs and we would still get the point. Please try to focus on attacking open enemies of Islam instead of belittling your own "wronged" muslim brothers.

One thing brothers. Ikhlaas sincerity is a matter of the heart. Humility isn't saying I am nothing and dont praise me, rather it is an internal belief that one attributes all his goodness to Allah SWT and lowers himself. From the podcast, it does not appear to me that Dr Yasir Qadhi is not speaking out of arrogance or pride, rather to make his point and reflect on his time at Madinah University. In fact, it is a disease of our heart to accuse someone of being arrongant and insincere.
